Hi,

My flight experience and build background: 1 X Synergy E5, 2 X Goblin 570, numerous TREX 450's. Beginner flyer.

I am building a N5C-TT. I have about 70% of the mechanical assembly done. The electronics am trying to use are a Bavarian Demon HC3-SX, Aerospire MultiGov, Perfect Regulator Safe Switch 2 Plus, 2 Cell LiPo, SwitchGlow Pro, low voltage servos for the collective and tail and a low voltage servo for the throttle. I am using a spectrum AR8000 receiver with a satellite or alternatively could use the HC3-SX with satellites. I am using a DX-9 radio.

I have connected the MultiGov and Safe Switch 2 Plus to the AR8000, powered by the 2 Cell LiPo and successfully entered the configuration for the MultiGov. Spinning the OS .55 by hand shows the RPM sensor is working.

I am familiar with the HC3-SX, using it in both my Synergy E5 and Goblins and can set it up with a problem for electric flight, however I am struggling with the Nitro setup.

I would very much appreciate a drawing that shows how to connect the MultiGov, Safe Switch 2 Plus, Low Voltage Servos, BD HC3SX, AR8000, SwitchGlow Pro and 2 Cell LiPo.

Any reason no one is responding? Am kind of counting on forum support to finish this build. I hope buying my first Nitro was not a mistake...

If you are looking for the way to make a multi gov work with Demon. You need to talk to Jeffrey Barrett.  He is your man. Demon experience and ran one on his N7.

I personally have no experience with that combo.

output 2 is where you need to plug in your gov, that is where i run my GV1s on my gassers. without a full RX, you will not have enough active ports to use all of your accessories with that setup though. but there is an option and a way to make it all work.....see below....

being a nitro, i would set it up like i do my gassers, with a full RX, to help eliminate the worry of brownouts and spectrum sats...get an AR9020 and use the wire loom to the BD. that will also give you all the channels you need to run your gov, and your switch glow. it also allows the sats to have an additional 1.5v cushion before the threat of brownouts is very high.

i am in a hurry running out of the office for a meeting, when i get back i will post more info, or you can PM me and we can talk.....you can even call if you need to, i know the BD very well. i run it on all of my gassers.

please accept my apologize for the short brief response earlier. i needed to get to a meeting. i sensed your frustrations and wanted you to know that we are here to help and i was trying to get you an answer fast. here are some more details on this issue.

with the BD unit alone, you are only capable of 8 channels. for me, with my gassers, i needed 9 to utilize all functions. that is my pitch, throttle, rudder, elevator, aileron, head gain/horizon, tail gain, gov HS selection, and Gov on and off.

to get more than 8 channels, you must use an external RX with the wire loom, and use your Aux 3 and 4 channels as your extras. it is a little more complicated, and a little more of a mess, but it works very well. it is also much more reliable as the BD and Spectrum history of brownouts is very well documented. using the external rx will allow the power to sag down to 3.3V (IIRC) before a brownout, where the BD will only handle 5V with sats only before it browns out.

below is a wiring diagram for the external RX. i took this from another site, i did not make this, and cannot take credit for it. it is very nice though. notice that these external RX in the diagram only go to 7 channels though, so just imagine an aux 3 and aux 4 ports there for your use with your gov and your switch glow.

i cannot help with the low voltage servos though. other than running step downs to each servo, i dont know what to tell you. i run all HV stuff so never had to do this. you may want to use a 2 cell lipo into a CC BEC Pro to get the power down to your proper voltage for all of the servos without having to run step downs, or a regulator. with the BD and spectrum, the higher the voltage the better, take a look over on HF at all of the threads on brownouts. i run 8.5V on everything that still has a demon on it in my fleet.

someone that has run a regulator can help you figure that out, i am sorry, but i have never run one before.

If you're going to use a 2S lipo and low voltage servos, you're going to need a voltage regulator/BEC for sure.  Your other option would be to use a 2S LiFe pack, instead of the Lipo.

Sorry, I totally missed this ... did you ever get this figured out?

I'm using the ATGv3 myself, but the setup should be similar. Let me know, I'm more than happy to assist. :)

OK, so my setup is;
1.   Bavarian Demon HC3-SX,
2.   AR9310 9-Channel,
3.   Switchglo Pro,
4.   JR VR6015 Regulator,
5.   O.S. .55 HZ-R DRS Ringed Competition,
6.   TM1100 Telemetry,
7.   Aerospire MultiGov Pro,
8.   Futaba S9650 (Throttle servo),
9.   Align DS-615,
10. Futaba S9254 (Tail servo),
11. Protek 2 cell lipo 2100mah,
12. Western Robotics inline voltage regulator for the throttle servo,

Modifications made to accommodate the above components;

1. Cyclic arms moved to inner most servo horn holes to sufficiently reduce turn angle to +/- 10 degrees and maintain within BD-3SX specifications.
2. Backplate RPM sensor and metal bracket connected to Aerospire MultiGov Pro.

Channels (Setup);

1. Receiver Throttle Channel to MultiGov Pro to RPM Sensor, Servo and Aux3 Channel (Flight Mode) to switch between speeds,
2. Receiver Aux 4 to Transmitter DX9 Switch H to SwitchGlo Pro,
3. BD 3SX to Receiver,
4. ProTek 2 cell LiPO to JR Voltage Regulator
5. Attached diagram shows my wiring.

Notes:

This was my first Nitro build, it was very challenging, I found it more challenging than building an electric. However…

Yes it is loud, very loud, similar to a commercial weed eater but it is awesome (At least spooling up is, tomorrow I will maiden).

glad you got her finished up!  be sure to tune your overall head gain properly with the BD to help avoid any elevator bounce. also be sure to completely tune the head gain before enabling horizon/rescue mode, it helps the performance of both flying and rescue.

i think you may find that you will need more than 10 degrees cyclic to counter the dolphin effect and elevator bounce. i know the BD software says 10, but that is a  minimum. they want you to increase it until you have no binding, but to allow the BD unit the max throw to correct, and perform requested inputs. mine usually end up round 11.5-12 before i get binding, and that is enough to keep the dolphin and elevator bounce to a min.

Thank you Gasser Mike, your advice was excellent. The first time I spooled up the tail was jumping all over the place so I moved the rods connected to the servos back so that they are parallel and not at an angle. That increased the cyclic movement from around 10 degrees to around 20 degrees, in the BD software I reduced it to around 17 degrees.

I took the N5C-TT out for its maiden and wow, it flew beautifully, it is far and away my favorite helicopter.

I flew three tanks and really enjoyed filling the tank over the process of changing out the battery on an electric. I also enjoyed the longer flight time, approximately 2 minutes longer for me.

I currently have a Goblin 570 and this Synergy N5C-TT and in the past several T-REX 450's and a Synergy E5. Other than the noise difference, I am not sure I understand why Nitro heli's have been overtaken in popularity by electric heli's (that are the same size), I find the electric batteries are a pain to manage.

I would definitely recommend the N5C-TT, it is a great helicopter.

Looking good!

I would shorten up the pressure line. Not that it won't work just all that line loosely wrapped around the tank could come loose and get tied up in the main gear or muck with the tail linkage.

Here is how I plumbed my newest build last night:

My one way check valve for the pressure line is in the line running between the frames. Out of sight but still there.

Also I would recommend a second T in the supply line for refueling. Trying to fuel through the pressure port will allow pressure to build in the tank and you could was the carb/hydro lock the motor and or blow a fitting somewhere as the pressure in the tank builds.

Notice I am using an Align filter with an input T.  To refuel I pull the pressure plug, and then tap my fuel pump into the T on the filter.

Just a few recommendations.
