Title: Dropped Cell
Post by: Chris Phillips on July 23, 2017, 05:44:26 PM
I have been flying my E7SE for several seasons now with no issues - a blast to fly.  Last weekend, I lost a cell in the battery back.  The helicopter obviously lost power (which was my clue to land), and I found one of the cells in the rear pack was at 0.12V.  I chalked it up to bad luck, and accepted that the pack had close to 200 flights.  I replaced the rear pack with a battery of like brand, size, and age.  Today, I lost a cell in the front pack!  Is this a total coincidence, or is there something going on?  I don't really want to lose another pack!  If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

I'd be looking at the charger. Make sure it's balancing properly.

Probably a coincidence but still.

What Chris said.. but in addition.. others may disagree.. but I kind of look at 12s as one pack.. if one cell in either goes.. and they r both old.. I'd replace them all and use the good 6s in something else as a single pack. Integrating an old pack with a new one just messes with my head...  may just be me.. I have no proof to back it...

Thanks for the replies guys.  I will look at my charger (I-charger 406) more closely.  There have been at least 15 successful charges in between the "dropped" cell incidences.
