Title: 43MM ADJUSTABLE TURNBUCKLE WRENCH
Post by: Helikid42 on November 07, 2017, 07:31:35 AM
Decided to go with the adjustable 43mm turnbuckles for my E5. I'm sure this will make adjustments simple and there will be no need popping the ball links off from time to time. My question is, what wrench will accept these turnbuckles?

The Synergy turnbuckles used on the larger helicopters have M2.5 threads and benefit from a 4mm wrench.  The cheapest option may be to find a 4mm open end wrench at the hardware store.  These are some overpriced "hobby grade" 4mm wrenches that will work.

1) $1.99 Turnigy 4mm turnbuckle wrench (https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-turnbuckle-wrench-4mm.html)

2) $3.49 Lunsford 4mm turnbuckle wrench (https://www.amainhobbies.com/lunsford-4mm-aluminum-punisher-turnbuckle-wrench-lns9901/p38308)

3) $4.99 Team Associated 4mm turnbuckle wrench (https://www.amainhobbies.com/team-associated-factory-team-4mm-turnbuckle-wrench-asc1112/p203800)

4) $2.59 Yokomo 4mm turnbuckle wrench (https://www.amainhobbies.com/yokomo-4mm-turnbuckle-wrench-yoksd-tbl/p257309)

How do you keep the links on the balls when adjusting the turnbuckle?  In my experience with them the links are so tight on the threads that the pop off unless held stationary.  I don’t have enough hands to hold both  links and turn the turnbuckle.

I have seen mention of using Chapstick on the threads of the turnbuckles.

I have 2 sets of ball link pliers, and use the round cut out in them to hold on to the links.  It's awkward, but I can hold them both in one hand and turn the turn buckle with the other.

I just rubbed bar of soap on threads helps.
