Title: It is Official
Post by: Roger on December 14, 2017, 12:00:59 PM
I am very excited to say that I now own a 766.  Funds have been transferred and I now eagerly await the arrival of my new to me Heli.  It is orange with a tail boom cover.  It also comes with motor and speed control.  I need to buy a set of servos for it.  I have a NEO and Battery ID and UI that I can put on it.  I will be putting Xpert servos on it.  I also need to decide which brand of battery to go with for this machine.

I have been debating the purchase since the machine was introduced.  I am very happy one is on its way.

Gratz Roger!  It's a great flying model, that's very versatile.

I liked it so well, I got a second one....but not stretching it....as I no longer have a 700....766 and 806.  8)

Congrats Roger! It's Christmas and I needed a present so mine will be here on Friday. I got a Carey Shurley gas conversion coming for mine, though, with a VX310.

Nice Chris.  I would be interested in how the conversion goes together.

I'll post some photos of the build, Rog. Matt has a gasser, and a few other folks have them. But I guess I haven't seen any real build threads on a 766 yet. Despite the cost of the conversion kit, I think it will come in cheaper than an electric build with batteries factored in. And the performance is almost nitro level with the Toxic VX320TT under the hood. I got the Toxic VX310 Sports engine for mine because I plan on using it for UAV and didn't really want the "hot" port timing of the TT engines.

From all reports, and talking with Carey and Matt directly about what I wanted, the gasser conversion is pretty straight forward.

My new to me 766 has arrived.  I am checking it out now and putting it back together as I go.  I have the head assembly mounted and secured.  This machine is huge.  I thought my N7 was big......the 766 is BBBBIIIIIGGGGGGG!

I think I am going to like this machine a lot.

Hey Roger ,

Hows the 766 coming along?

Hi Richard,  the 766 is still awaiting its power source. Batteries are on order and should be delivered on Monday.

I did finally get the cyclic servos.  We had a problem with the post office and forwarding of mail.  Thankfully they arrived back in Illinois after two round trips to Arizona.  We normally spend the deep winter months and spring in Arizona but had to cancel this year.  Winter is definitely curtailing my flying field visits.  I have my 516 that is also not flying because of winter.

One good thing is that the White Sox have started Spring Training which means flying season is gonna be here shortly.

The battery for my 766 came today.  Connectors swapped out.  I need to get some Velcro to mount the packs to the mounting plate and I will be ready for a flight.  Maiden for me........getting kinda nervous.

Rodger

Flew my new 516 today 3-10-18 for the first time. Its a smooth flying machine.
Glade to hear you got a 766 , I have my 766 setup as a 806 and its an awesome flying machine as well.
It a little intimidating at first, but after a few flights you learn  to keep it farther away.

Be sure to grease those rubber dampers in the head real well. Mine head dampers took several flights  to break in.
Let's  get together this spring or summer and do some flying either at your flying place or here in Kankakee.

Still waiting for decent weather so I can get this heli in the air.  I was 39 and very windy today.  Next week looks like a bust as well with cool temps and rain.  😩😩

Looks like we may get some 50's  late next week.
Still dialing in the 516 when the weather permits.
Is the 766 done and ready to go?
Any new news on the release date for the 556N ???

My 766 maiden did not go well.  I think a cyclic servo unplugged itself.  It was an expensive crash.  Blades, shafts, bearings, torque tube, tail box, one lg strut, boom wrap.  It is back together with the exception of the tail servo.  I had a brand mismatch between the tail servo and the cyclic servos I and decided to correct it.  The new servo should be here by the end of the week.  My 516 is flying beautifully.  I could not be more pleased with it.  The Synergy Team guys have their 556 kits.  Nothing but positive comments that I have seen.  I am doing a SWAG and predict they will ship to consumers right around the end of June.  Matt likes to get feed back from his team so that any last minute nits can be corrected.
