Tail Pitch Slider Assembly (pg 38)--I cannot take it apart
« on: January 13, 2013, 06:14:15 PM »
Is there a possibility that the 615-319 Tail Pitch Slider Bushing may already be Loctited to the 115-321 Pitch Plate, and the 106-813 Tail Slider Lock Ring is also secured with some sort of glue?  I cannot take those parts apart.  The whole assembly seems to be working properly without slop.  The only thing I have been able to do is apply CA to the ball link.  If I apply heat, I may deform the 115-319 plastic Tail Bearing Ring.

Should I just leave the rest of the assembly alone, and trust that Synergy "glued" the parts appropriately, or should I continue attempting to disassemble the unit and risk destroying it?

I did not bother to pull off locking ring from tail pitch slider. I just added CA as in note 2. I have found this to be OK. You must dissasemble the rest of the tail though as there is no Loctite on any screws. Same goes for the head. The blade grips were very tight but have no grease on thrust bearings. Neither on the tail thrust bearings.

I assume that by not removing the 106-813 Tail Slider Lock Ring, that means that you also did not remove the 615-319 Tail Pitch Slider Bushing from the 115-322 Tail Pitch Link.  You just left that part of the assembly intact and did not apply Red Loctite like the manual states.  Is that correct?

I would just leave it as is, the lock ring is very difficult to remove without damaging the brass slider.

That is correct. It is for extra security as the note states. That to me means you don't have to. If you think it needs it "extra security" then you will have to take apart and loctite but I do not think this is a problem.

I'm currently on this same step, and have no clue how to get the lock ring off either. I would be fine with just leaving it be but rotating the tail bearing ring by hand the radial bearing inside of it feels very rough and notchy, like it has no grease at all. Is that going to be alright?

You should be fine leaving it in tact. The thrust bearings are all that you need to grease really. The radials are fine by themselves.

The thread on my tail bearing ring for the pivot ball is stripped.  I need to replace the tail bearing ring.  How can I disassemble the pitch slider assembly?  I can not figure out how to remove the lock ring.  If I do get it apart, what tools and technique should I use to reapply a new lock ring?  Thanks for your help

Just replace it if it's the plastic one. The locking ring will not lock back perfectly. By the time you buy a new lock ring, slider bushing, and bearing housing, you have almost spent the amount of the new one.

I agree, I don't even mess with the plastic lock ring. My E5 and E6 got the upgrade during the builds.
