Here's my story.  Went out last Wednesday to the field with my Compass 3D+ to fly.  Nothing happened. Burnt plug.  Took it home and found clutch is broken too. Only after 4.5 gallons.  Also had issues with servo screws coming out of the frame easily, tail screws vibrating off the heli and almost losing a tail box due to the way it attaches to the boom (not a problem on 6HV with the same tail though), fuel tank leaks as well.  Took me a long while to figure out the best FBL controller position too but after I found that thrust bearings were incorrectly assembled at the factory and causing all kind of issues.  Long story short this heli spent more time on the bench than I would've liked.  Flew 4.5 gallons throughout the whole season.  2 of those just testing and trying, not really flying. On Thursday morning started researching 50 size nitros.  Align is out of the question, and many others.  Was thinking about Velocity first but then found way too many issues and problems people are having.  Not cool.  Thought about Fury 55 real hard but I don't like the look although quality wise it was something I wanted.   Then I came across Synergy N5. Then found there is a new lighter version.  Checked out the pics, videos, Pinion unboxing it and talking about quality of the kit. Found NDheli (Montreal, Canada) is one of the distributors.  Emailed them.  Got a call back about 2 FBL belt driven kits left in stock.  30 minutes later and $670 less in my pocket I made the order.  Shipped Friday morning.  I just got the box at my door an hour ago.  That's it.  Thanks for listening to my boring story :)

Very excited to start the build.  Started to strip out the 3D+ of the electronics.  Don't get me wrong I love my compass helis and they fly absolutely awesome. The 6HV is probably the most fun heli anybody can ever own too and I have had zero issues with it. Mad power to weight. But the 3D+ just pissed me off after a long long battle with it and the clutch thing was the last straw.  It flew great when it did but the reason I decided to try nitro in the first place is long flight times... which never happened really.

I opened my N5C box and the parts just smell of quality and beef (not literally obviously haha) .  I really like to assemble them from the ground up so it's a big bonus that everything is in pieces.  From what I've read so far it should go together quite nicely and fly great.  It is also quite a big looking heli too. I do not foresee any visibility issues with the big canopy and frames.  Looking forward to that maiden flight.

Congrats on the New Heli and Welcome to an ever growing family. You will find a lot of useful information in the N5c Build Tips&Tricks. Pay close attention to the Notes within the manual and use the proper loctite. All this I'm sure you Know having built a few helis. Enjoy the kit and If you have any questions what so ever never hesitate to ask.. ;D

Cheers,
Kevin

Almost there with the build.  Had some trouble with tail supports.  When I glued them I used CA.  It dries very quick and one of the supports was longer that the other.  In other words I screwed them up.  I refused to accept the fact that I need to order new ones and wait for 1 - 1.5 weeks so I made my own from 6HV support tubes and Odin 90 aluminum support ends.  Looks actually pretty nice and matches the shiny aluminum perfectly. And the tubes are thicker which makes it look a little better.  Everything else is superb.  Fit and finish is perfect on all parts.  Has a lot of bling on it out of the box.  Hopefully it's not too cold when I'm ready.

I had 2 x 78mm links missing in the kit though and it's going to delay the maiden.  Any other links rods I can use?

I will definitely take some pics and post them up when it's all done.
