Tail Rotor Blades
« on: January 13, 2016, 11:34:28 AM »
I was looking for information regarding recommended tail rotor blades for the NC5. Information says 85-95mm blades and just wanted to get feedback of the Rail R-96 blades would work well with an OS .50 sx-h? I also was planning on running the Rail R-606 main blades.

thanks,

Jay

Rail 96 works great on the N5c.

I run 106mm tails on mine with 606mm mains. They fit, you just have to be careful when pinning the boom and tail box, you have to back them off a few mm.

Mike,

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by "pin" the tail to allow for the bigger tail blades?

If u reference page 36 of the manual... U'll see on the right side of the tail box, the forward most threaded hole is used to pin the tail box onto the boom.. This does require u to drill a 3mm hole.. So once u thread the bolt in the tail box, it will also thread into the hole u drilled.. Pinning the box to the boom. If u put the tail box on & square it up.. U may want to slide the box back a few mm before marking the location of the hole to be drilled. I'm honestly not sure if I pulled the box back any on the N5C... Was my first Synergy build & I was unaware of having to pull it back a few mm to accommodate larger tails... But I'm using the 606/106 combo.. Haven't had the blades impede one another.. I'm no smack pilot, but I am kinda hard on stops sometimes.. No issues to date... But I'm sure Mike is right in pulling it back a few mm..

sorry for the delay, I have been down for a while. Clay hit it though, just move the tail box back 3-4mm before you pin it. personally, I pull my boom 1-2mm back from the front trans also. by doing that, you are pushing it, but the TT ends are plenty long enough according to conversations with Matt.
