Fbl question
« on: August 16, 2016, 05:08:39 PM »
What fbl units work well with an e5s.  My sk540 will not play nice with a stretched e5.  Works great with 556 mains though.  It decided to eat a tail gear and tail blades attempting some unprompted piro's while on the ground.  Not sure why but it is a good excuse to look at something new for it or I can just leave it as a 550 but that requires a motor and mains as I bought the kit with the stretch and just don't have 556 blades laying around anymore.

TH
He 540 worked well right up until i swapped to the longer tail and 620 mains.  Thanks the the replies guys, my winter project this year is to get a wr superbec mini, 4025 1100kv, and some 6s 5000mah packs for it  might go brain 2 hd for it.  I have never used anything other than sk540's and the built in bt on the brain2 looks like a nice option.

I used a VBar Silverline, Skookum SK-720BE, and a Spirit Pro.  They all worked fine.

I use Bavarian Demon and CGY's.  I do prefer the CGY feel.

I always liked my sk540 but it has been a pain with the e5 for some reason.   To get better resolution i have to move the ball in one hole which causes binding on the push rod through the guides.  Not sure whynit went crazy either as it has been in the air flying but with wag (poor resolution between gyro and servo).  Got better end points on the tail servo tab and it thought i had a spinning top lol.  Luckily after my original kit was wrote off i have plenty of spares to play with for a mishap or two.  Hoping to rebuild it this week and get a new set of tail blades shipped,  it will have to be a 12s on an15t pinion 550 though until i can get a new motor.  3635 510 and 4035 560 available for it on my work bench.   That is provided i can get the 540 tp play nice until i can get a new one .

Mr mels says the 560 with 15t pinion will produce a governed headspeed of 2300 to 2350 if I remember correctly.  Something for me to double checked.

Cgy a firend has on his,  it was swapped for a sk720 as he found it harder to adjust.  Brain and ikon look nice with the bluetooth.

How long ago was your friends swap to the CGY? The newest firmware 2.0 is pretty much plug and play .

Oh yeah, 2.0 just came out this summer. I would seriously recommend giving it another try.

I am lookin at the brain2 hd with bt.  Once i get time i will read the forums and see what users are saying about it.  I have seen the ikon up close and personal on an e5 when matt flew his here.  To be honest i expected nothing less than excellance from him though as one of ikons boys back then.

I haven't followed who is flying for what company in some time but when i flew everyday it was nice having Colin Bell (was team align then)2 hrs east of me and Matt Clarke 40 min west.  Matt put on quite the flight demo when he came to my house to fly one weekend.  It was his used e5 airframe i picked up when i piled mine in.  His flights that day was probably why i just didnt scrap my e5 and go with another model.   He really showed it off well.  Loved watching him mow the field behind my house.
