E5 Noise

I get what seems to be gear noise after rt tail rotor input and goes away after Lt tail rotor input, no 3d.
Main shaft moves up and down because of main gear bolt, replaced bolt, shaft and one way bearing housing
no improvement.

Bells,

Main shaft up down play
- Do you have shims between the Jesus bolt collar, part #320-411 and the middle bearing block?
- make sure part 320-411 is in the proper orientation. The raised portion of it should be towards the middle bearing block.
- The pinch collar part #610-150 is not meant to take the load of the Heli. Its purpose is to preload the bearing in the top bearing block.

Is this tail noise on right rudder during a hover or forward flight. More info or a video of it happening would be helpful.

Hey thanks for reply, shim and collar are in and correct, tail noise is in forward flight, I'll try to get video, I'm not sure if that noise could be detected with all the back ground noise but I'll sure try. Thanks

Gov gains too high can make a buzzing noise as well... Video would help.

BELL, my e-5 had some tail noise in after 700 flights found the trans spur gear was very sloppy, the spur gear pin was sloppy rotating in the gear wearing the gear pin area in the gear, 305-213 is the 13t  if you have the speed up its a 12t. When re assemble  Use red lock tight on the pin.

Thank you everyone, I talked to a friend about a video and we're going to try. What Cliff is saying sounds like it might be it, although the heli is new but hey, mistakes happen. I'll take any advise as good, wish some of of this group was going to the Heli fun fly in Dayton, Oregon, put on by helination.com, anyone? Thanks, keep the tips coming.

When re assemble  Use red lock tight on the pin.

And the gear.  I just did on my E5s and E7SE last night.  I found the pin caused some slop in the gear due to not being loctited.

Bells , also check make sure your tail blade grips float on the shalf, sometimes lock tight will weep in to the out side bearing and lock to the shalf. Happens when you use a little to much lock tight putting on tail blade grip. I bought my e7se use, had bad tail noise when bench run to check governor settings, found one tail blade grip was lock tighten to the shalf. Very easy to check.

Problem solved, Thanks Cliff, I went in direction you suggested, found the tail gear 320-218 18T has been moving
fore and aft causing the gear play to go tight and loose, replaced the gear and no more noise!
