766/716 build ideas
« on: November 02, 2016, 05:32:26 AM »
Hi guys,

I'm about to step into the 700-800 class with a new 766 kit.
As my first venture into the class I intend to build it as a 716 - that's a big enough step up from my E5s.
I fly sport and tinkering at the beginning of mild3D

Off the top after looking at the build manual and not really knowing what performance to expect, I'm thinking:
716 mains, 116 tails
4530 motor, around 500KV on 12S to put me in 1750-2150 headspeed range
160A ESC, undecided about integrated BEC or OPTO ESC and 2S lipo receiver pack
4200-5000mah packs
mini-vbar
cyclic servos BK8001HV, tail Futaba BLS276SV

I'd be interested to hear any insider info on build suggestions or combinations that people have put together with the 716 configuration. Plus headspeeds and flight characteristics that they deliver.

Really looking forward to building this heli its gonna rock!

cheers
Wolf

Hey Wolf,

You might need a larger pinion than the stock 13T in order to reach the top end of your head speed range.

Other than that the setup looks great!

I've run with the 716 mains and 116 tails using the 520kv ultimate, Castle Edge 160, Castle ProBec, 12s Thunder Power 5000mah packs, and the Futaba CGY750. My max head speed was 2200 and minimum was around 1600.

Have fun!

Thanks,

Matt

Hey Matt,

thanks for the feedback.

I was flying a very basic CP 450 when I first saw pictures of the E5 airframe and was hooked on the spot!
I've had my E5 for 2 years and it now has a permanent place in my hanger as an E5s.

Why bring this up?
Well, here I am building the flagship Synergy 766/716 and I'll be able to use the same motor pinions that fit the E5. Plus I can reconfigure the 766 to the bigger blade layouts if I want to try them. The same as I could on the E5 with factory parts and support.

Kudos for producing great helis that excel in design, manufacture, support and on the flight line.

Cheers

Wolf

Hey Wolf, you'll be extremely happy with it as a 716. My setup was Scorpion Ultimate 520kv, YGE160HV, Pulse 5000 12s sticks. 1800 LHS, 1950HHS on 13T pinion. It is incredible at any headspeed, i like my electrics a little lower HS. Heres a video at 1800rpm. Killer heli as a 716 for my style. https://youtu.be/C2SPuc2DIW4
N7, N5c, E5 12s!, E5s, E5SS, 766! All SYNERGYS baby! Electric's cool-but NITRO rules!

Hey Aaron,

Nice flying, I'll be happy to get to that level.
Interesting just how snappy the heli is at 1800rpm, with good collective management.

Seeing how it flies at 1800 I'll set up for a similar 1800-1950 headspeed range.
I'm leaning toward an Xnova 4530-500kv motor and match that with a 14T pinion will be about right.

Thanks
Wolf
