Headspeed?
« on: December 26, 2016, 09:45:25 AM »

I setup my new 766 (766 main, 116 tail and 25T tail pinion)  for 1400/1650/1750 head-speeds in normal/idle-up1/idle-up2 modes. But right now I am a sport/beginner flyer still working-up to inverted flight. That being said, I love lazy circuits, figure-8's, and trying to follow my fixed-wing buddies. So... my question is should I consider a lower head-speed for gentle flying around? And if I go lower... how low is "safe"? I read other forums where people push 750mm blades as low as 800rpm. What does everything think?

Your speeds sound plenty low already to me. It's personal preference and comfort, so if you are comfortable flying it and are happy with collective performance then I wouldn't worry about it too much. I have my low head speed set to 1600 for slow 3d, it's definitely plenty for flying circuits.

I see you are running the faster tail gear so if you're not beating on it, 1400 should do just fine.  I have ran mine from 1300-2150 and anything in between on stock dampers. No weird cyclic issues, at least that weren't caused by the need to retune the gyro for that RPM.

My go to RPM for lazy stuff is 1660.  Great mix of collective performance and battery life.
