Main Shaft Bearings

I am doing some maintenance on my E5 this winter and decided to change out my main shaft bearings. (108-105).  The new bearings got delivered today and found them to be sealed(?) radial bearings.  If I remember correctly, the original kit had radial bearings with metal shields. What is the reason for the change? Is this correct?

It's probably just a matter of a new style or supplier or both.

The original kit did ship with shielded bearings. Either shielded or sealed will be sufficient for the use as long as your dimensions are correct.  Did those come from the Synergy store?
