Synergy 516 with Xnova 4020-1350
« on: September 13, 2019, 02:02:25 AM »
 Hello,

I'm in the process of my Synergy 516  ;D and i went with a different motor due to wanting to try something different, which leads to this.

Does anyone have any good photos or video of Xnova 4020-1350 being installed and how you have gotten the proper gear mesh, because I'm wondering if the motor wires are to big as there fed thru for the ESC Connection, as a dry run it looks like there is no way to slide the motor shaft bearing block.

I hope this made sense and please help if you can.

Sincerely,
Kevin (New Guy To The Synergy Family)

I have the xnova 4020-1350 in my 516.
Its a popular alternative to the scorpion 4020-1320.
I found it best to route the motor wires thought the slotted opening in the motor mount then connect to esc wires below the esc tray. I had no trouble tightening the motor mount screws. The attached pics should explain it for you.

I set main gear mesh by manually feeling for backlash between the main gear and pinion. Adjust motor so there is a very small amount of freeplay between the gears when you rock the mainshaft back and forth after tightening the motor mount.
Then progressively check the freeplay as you rotate the mainshaft. Lock it down when you're satisfied that there is minimum backlash without binding between the gears at any point.

Hope that helps

Thanks Wolf51 that was just what i needed, the wires are off to the side then go forward i thought they stayed inline with the shape of the motor mount but that keeps the motor pushed back and i knew that wouldn't work.

Again thanks for the well needed photos!!!!  :) I also will be using the Hobbywing ESC as well, again trying some different products, nothing wrong with Scorpion and Castle....
