Title: Haste makes waste
Post by: Bill Mullin on February 10, 2013, 07:56:13 PM
So, I thought I'd share a little mishap this morning that you might find mildly amusing.

I'm at the point in my N5c build where I'm ready to make the tail pushrod and rudder servo linkage. I am in a bit of a hurry (clue) 'cause I'm going over to Mom's to watch the IU/Ohio State
b-ball game. So I gather the parts, read the directions, and get the JB Weld. Decided to use it
instead of CA, 'cause that's how I've done them before. I keep all my tubes of thread locker,
JB Weld, gasket maker, etc in a little tray together.
So I mix up some JB, spread it on the steel rods and put everything together. Looks good, and
I go over and watch the game.
I come home, and go to inspect my work and... the JB is not setting up. So I give a couple more hours and same thing. Hmm.
So deciding after about 7 hours that I must have mixed it wrong, I pull everything apart and clean up the mess. I look down at the area where I mixed the JB and notice the tube of "hardener" and the tube of...Permatex Ultrablack gasket maker. Doh. ::)

Well that is a new one on me... I will be honest I thought you were going to tell me you JB welded the linkages together or something.

At least this way you can clean it off and remix your JB :)

Thanks for sharing!
