Title: other things you enjoy doing
Post by: Jerry Kovar on September 07, 2011, 01:06:35 PM
Well guys let me get this side of the forum going.  Other than flying RC heli's what else do you like to do?

I am Pinion's producer and main camera man.   We have really been focusing on getting more videos out and making plans for future fun fly events, we even have t-shirts on the way.

Full time,  I am a firefighter paramedic.  I have been on the job for 19 years.  I am assigned to our TRT station and take care of the heavy rescue assignments.  I learned to cook just so I could get the station house of my choice.

I am going to be working with Mitch Pricer and teaching him the ways of the kitchen... He is going to work with me on some smooth smack flying.. lol..

I also am a forum hound.  Love talking on these things and getting to know other people...

Mountain Biking! Just wish I had more time for it. Hard to decide to go biking or the the field and fly.
Lately I have been heading to the field but plan on getting back into the saddle a little more next year.
Hear is my current ride. Trek 9.8

Man that is awesome brother... My Brother received the Silver Star in Iraq along with a purple heart from the same incident.   He took an AK round to the chin.  He was lucky as hell as it hit him in the side of the chin and exited further down his jaw.  The Army was incredible on how it took care of the family during his trip home and all the way up to him receiving his medal.  In true warrior fashion, he declines the notion that he deserved it.

Like I mentioned before... A special thanks for what you do...

Sounds like a plan. Thanks for getting this started.

I like to take my winter time when I cannot fly and jump into my other addiction which is firearms. I go to the local indoor range a lot in the winter but also carry just about everyday as well. I game on the PS3 and jump around on forums a lot though also.

I am a QA & Performance Analyst at NiSource for my job and I really enjoy it so I don't have any complaints.

Glad to be a part of these forums!

Fishing and full size flying for me, but the expense of it generally limits the others, so what to choose, RC, Fishing or Full Size? My wife wants me to make her my hobby :o.....

Hey Jerry,

Cool to meet part of the team behind Pinion (at least meeting as far as a forum can let you meet). I found Pinion's counter part at a flea market (same dog puppet), maybe we could get together sometime such as next IRCHA and do a colab with Pinion and say his long lost cousin or brother from the first litter.

Hahah.

Love the videos. Keep 'em coming.

Those are also some beautiful machines. Nice! I finally got to go to a drag strip near Columbus that I didn't even know was there. I've never been to one until now. I got to see a lot of motorcycles race that day and it was awesome!

Man Kevin, that's sweet stuff!

Your line up there, resembles my garage about 6 years ago except mine were blue (Yamaha). :) It included a 2005 R1, 2005 YZ450F, and 2005 YZ250F. The street bike was just for fun and occasional track days. The two YZ's were, built to the hilt, race bikes I built from the ground up.

Unfortunately, a bad ankle/achilles tendon injury during a race took me out of it all. :(

Would love to ride again! It has been a life long passion... Matt, we better be hooking up this year for some ridin!! Lol!

Thank You James, They Took a bit to build. The Race bike on the far end was a Year. Bought it wrecked out of Tennessee and Skunked the Motor and Just built it from the ground up with Shark Skins Fairings, I painted it the same color as My Big Red 1. I am Going to be selling them off, I got burned out on the Track and just don't have the time. I fully BLAME MATT BOTOS!!!! IT'S HiS FAULT FOR DESIGNING These Insane Hell's ;D. Instead of Staging my Bikes I have to Figure out what to do with the Helis.lol  I got Bit By The Synergy Bug Hard!! I wonder what the Bikes Would look like Pearl White with Blue/orange stripes or a touch of Green/blue  ???lol.

Cheers,

Kevin

Yes i have been blessed
Funny it is not a hobby for me, it is my job. There are good days and bad. The night practice was cool, but not being at the track till 1AM and then back again at 7AM. But still cool. I have done the Indy 500 acouple of times and it is fun when you get to the race. The crowdes are awsome and the people really enjoy the racing.

I've had a number of bikes over the years. Here's a couple of my favorites. Don't have either anymore. Down to just a '06 GL1800 abs/nav  Decided to sell the Busa while I still had my life and license. The power was addiciting, but could get you in trouble real fast. The other's bark is worse than it's bite... as long as you're not on the receiving end.

That's exactly why I decided to send it down the road. One day got on it pretty hard. Hit second gear at about 80 mph and suddenly realized my front tire was no longer on the ground. Darn near creamed my jeans. Couldn't imagine these guys with turbos on 'em. Put it up for sale a week later. My first, only and last sport bike. Strictly touring bikes for me now. An Audi R8 is in the cards sometime in the next 5-6 years. That's one sexy ride.

I thought I had a post in this thread, but I guess not. So- here is a clip from my intro: "... I am a Formula One fanatic and cigar aficionado. I recently became very active in golf, which has taken some time away from flying. I have always been "into" guns and love to shoot at the local tactical matches when I am between golf and flying. I guess my last love would be Porsche cars. I am an absolute enthusiast. I don't currently have one in the garage, but that only increases the desire, right?"

I need to add one more thing to the mix now. We picked this baby up last week...

Hi Kevin,

I previously had an 05 ZX-10R in metallic black. I did a bit of club racing with that bike for a while until I crashed on 2007 :( :'(. I did my collarbone, shoulder, ribs 3 and 4 on the left and did something to my left hand. I lost the front through a chicane.

I don't have many pics of the new ZX-10R. I have some speed run footage you will like ;D. I have to get it off my phone and upload it. It is a great bike but I don't get to ride it much. It was dyno'd at 174 hp last year. It has run 10.2@138mph down the 1/4.

Here is another pic for you ;D.

I rode a 1993 CBR900RR in college. It had a tad bit of work on it and it was scary when you cracked the throttle! I consider myself lucky to have lived through those days. I would like to have another one just for nostalgia though.

I would like to ride again, but wife and little kids have changed my desires. I don't want to be on the street much anymore. You can break arms and stuff on dirt. The street isn't so forgiving.

Brought home a KTM Duke a few years back... my first major "unapproved purchase" after being married. I rode it for three glorious months before it went to another home  ;) The bug has bit me again. Looking more off-road/ trails style. The KTM Super Enduro has really caught my eye...

Thats awesome, I have a 1998 4.6 I am currently re-building. The body is about done, then I can start on the drive train.  This car was taken care of by someone, but it wasn't the last guy.....

Never going to run it, just want to make those newer GT drivers think twice.

Yan,

Now That is cool... I just broke down my salt water tanks.  Nothing like it... I will agree the Maint is a bit much, But everything we love in life "Needs Maint" and is always expensive.. My wife got way to attached to the fish and god help me if one of the fish died, You would of thought the world was coming to an end.  AllI have now is my 85 gal Fresh Water.  Very Nice setup you have.. My local Fish Store owner was into Heli's Needless to say we horse traded alot... :D  Great Looking Tank.

Guns, drums, Reef Aquarium.

Lost a lot of guns and two reefs to my lipo house fire in 2010 - Shot and lost a few combat pistol competitions locally years ago.

Still have a Saiga-12, Glock 17, AK-74, and an Arcus 94.  Lost a few AR-15s  :o

Managed to setup a nano reef after the fire but the bug has not fully bit just yet....
