Title: Transmission question
Post by: larry v on October 25, 2017, 01:30:03 PM
I finally got my E5 yesterday just before work. I had just enough time to open it up and look at the parts.
I noticed that one of the trans screws was floating around in the bag so I opened it up to re install it. While I  had it in my hand I spun the gears and found that it spun freely through half of the rotation and was binding through the other half.
So before I get a chance to tear it down I'd like to ask if the gear mesh is adjustable?

Thanks

Not really.  The only movement to adjustment is the play in the holes themselves, but it's such a super small amount.  If I can remember right, mine wasn't super smooth at first, but after the first flight it was.  I guess it depends on how rough it is.

A few flights should smooth it out.

Thank you gentlemen. I'll start with the trans. I'll get it tore down and look it over real good. if I don't find anything obvious I'll fly it and keep an eye on it.

Thanks again,

Make sure the gears are pressed all the way into their seats. I suspect that is what will fix the binding.
