105 HZ or HZ-R

First time building/flying a nitro, so looking for a little advice on which engine to get for it...

I recommend the hzr. I have flown both. Tuning the hzr is easier in my experience.

Being that the fuel pressure is so consistent in the HZR it makes it easy to tune.

Personally, I think the HZ is a bit easier to deal with than the HZ-R.  When the regulator is working great it's a beautiful thing, but when it's not it can cause a number of headaches.  Everyone has their favorite though..........

20% runs very well. I am using the regulated 105.

I run the HZ-R now but when i started i ran the HZ. I am happy i started with the HZ because it was easy to tune, plus it's a few bucks cheaper. Take the money you save on the HZ and put it towards a good pipe. I've tried everything but the OS powerboost so i can't comment on that one. My recommendation would be the Hatori SB22 because it makes good power and it makes good power even when your running rich. Since this is your first nitro (and boy you picked a good one) i'll help you with any questions you have in regards to tuning or anything.
