Alternitave Servo Arm choice?
« on: March 04, 2015, 05:59:59 PM »
Guys, I'm just building my second N7, and have come up against an issue with the servo arms.

On my N7 I run Futaba HV servos, and no issues. However on this build, I have Outrage Torq servos, and the 4 bolt heads are sitting on the alloy servo case around the top bearing :(

Has anyone used a different 20mm arm eg Mikado carbon reinforced arms, or another brand of 20mm arms?

I would like the offset to be the same of coarse.

Another option is to replace the screws with countersunk ones!

On all my MKS I just flip so the bolt head is on the outside, thread the nut on the back(towards the servo) and remove any excess with a dremel.  In my opinion this looks better any ways, but, this may not work as I have never had Outrage

Thank you sir, that very simple solution has worked!!

Looking at it, but not measuring it, they looked the same length both sides, but when you build it that way, the bolt head sinks into the servo disc a tiny bit, and the clearance on the servo is like 1/2mm! result!!

Hi Rob,

Glad to see it worked, another option would have possible been to substitute the bolts for some button head bolts as these are generally more of a low profile and would have possibly given the clearance required.

I'm sure Mr Northcott is going to enjoy that N7 once you've got it built for him!   8)

Rock on dude! keep us updated on how you go! :)

Cheers,
Ross
