Nic, welcome to the Synergy family.  Silicone spray simply lubricates the belt and helps to keep it supple.  WD40 is a petroleum based product and will speed the deterioration of, plastics and rubber and would not be a good lubrication choice for the belt. R/C car 100% Silicone shock oil works well for this application and is readily available (just use it sparingly ).

No don't use wd40. That will dry the belt out. You want a runner safe silicone lubricant spray. This will help prolong the belt life. It also helps with belt noise.

Not sure what you have there in the U.K., but over here you can pick up spray in just about any auto parts store that will do the job.

CRC Heavy Duty Silicone Spray,  Red Can, Google it, they sale it auto parts and Walmart. That is the Best stuff to use.
** pay attention to the build tips as well in this forum!!!** Belt Tension is Important. Also setting the Tail output shaft distance. **  Spray the belt while rotating the main rotor, once complete take the heli and wrap paper towels around the tail box and hang with the tail boom pointed down over nigh, This will take care of any residual.

Welcome to the Family!

i did want to ask a question about the tail output shaft,,in tips and tricks it says Slide the tail output shaft all the way to the left side of the tail box and secure the set screws, now my tail came assembled but im about to strip and rebuild but looking at it i have about 5 mill of the shaft sticking out past the bearing on the left side, when i put the tail controll arm to 90 degrees every thing looks about centre on the shaft but the grips have some offset (not straight at zero degrees) is this correct and how i should put it all back togeather

Screw in 3mm cup point set screws so they are very close to contacting the flat spot on the tail output shaft. Slide the tail output shaft all the way to the left side of the tail box and secure the set screws. Doing this assures you will have the correct 5 degree offset in your tail blades when all tail bell cranks are set to their correct 90 degree position. (this is copied exactly from the Tips and Tricks section). if you still have an issue shoot me a picture.. kfeil@gardneraviation.com and We will sort it out..

hi kev and thx for the reply,,you will have to excuse my ignorance but this is my first proper heli build,,and im sure it will all become apparent once i attack the tail build  but what i was trying to get accross is that as my tail has come built the tail output shaft is sticking out 5 mil past the bearing on the left side ,,is this right as this does give a slight offset in the grips with the controll arm at 90,,on my trex 600 the build said to leave the grips at zero ,,hopefully i will be attacking the tail over the weekend,,,just finished building the mainframes up and must say its all gone togeather very nicely
