Unlucky weekend for my n5c
« on: October 28, 2013, 09:39:29 AM »
Went out to get some fights in Sunday. The weather was perfect 60 degrees with a 5mph wind. I get to the field before anyone else so I decide to take my N5c up to get it tuned for the day. That lasted about 30 seconds when the engine stalls out while inverted. I got it back around but didn't have enough altitude to get the head speed needed for an auto. Landed it a little hard in some tall grass. after inspection it appears that all it needs is a new set of landing gear and I should be good to go (at this point I didn't know the motor was locked up yet). I called the girlfriend to have her bring me a set from home (a 30min drive). After I get it all back together I get to the flight line and try turning the engine but my starter doesn't budge. Hopefully the weather holds out a little longer so I can still get one more good day of flying in this year. I guess its time to put a OS 55hz-r in it. Hopefully everyone else had a better weekend than I did.

Hate to hear that Ben.  So what engine where you running?  I have an OS55HZ in mine and has been flawless.

Cheers
Alan

I have the OS 50 in it now. I'm not too upset over it, I was planning on replacing it anyways. I just hate wasting a good day of flying over something like this.

Bummer.  I hate it when the day starts out like that.

I picked up a OS55 hz-r and Hatori pipe from King Kong Hobbies on my lunch. I will be ready by next weekend.

Man. I wish I had King Kong in my backyard. The closest decent Heli shop is an hour and a half away.

Cheers
Alan.

I know some of the parts are interchangeable specifically the connecting rod. I had a decent weekend other than losing the key chain quick mount for my canopy and having the TT bearings start making some noise.  Like Mr Ben here I will be ready by this upcoming weekend.  :)  Hey Ben did you have something else you could fly or were you down completely?

B-O-O-H-O-O... :D  The closest decent heli shop to me is probably Heliproz in Billings, MT. which is over 9 hours away. Oh yeah, I guess Ralph's house is about that same distance from me, too.  I'm pretty jealous of anyone who has a decent shop within a couple hours of home.

I can second that Rodney

If I want help or parts my only option is the "Googler" quote from George HW Bush.
