N5C rudder clearance issue
« on: March 13, 2014, 09:56:34 PM »
Hello, I am new here.
I am having issues with the clearance of the rudder tail rod. Servo to the tail bell crank. I have OS 55HZR DRS, I did place the ball at the top per manual suggestions. The rod is touching the fan housing, is that normal? Please advise...

Hi... and welcome!

No, the tail rod should not be touching the fan shroud at all. If you have the ball on the top, then I would check that you have the correct distance on the tail servo horn. At the tail extremes it will be close to the shroud... But not touching.

Also, you are able to rotate the carburetor by loosening the retainer screw on the side of the engine.

Cheers,
Mark

What would be the ideal distance?

Make sure the ball on the servo horn is on the outside.

Mark, Thank you!!!! It worked! ;D Also, now that I've moved the carburetor to find clearance, I have clearance in both upper and lower setup of the bell crank does it matter? The bottom setup of the crank seems to be more leveled than the upper ones?

Chappawolf: thank you it is on the outside. :)
