Title: fusno
Post by: turner2 on January 12, 2017, 04:58:19 PM
Is there anything that can be done with a fusno canopy other than heat it to keep it off main gear. Mine keeps drawing back into the gear after a while?

Keep some paper towels/rags/pieces of foam/cut pieces of pool noodle/etc. between the main gear and canopy at all times while it sits in the hangar. Eventually the canopy will set right, but it takes a long time. If you keep the main gear padded between flights out in the sun over the summer it sets pretty quickly.

Has anyone ever spaced the rear canopy mounts or slotted the front holes in a fusuno canopy. I put pool noodles in between the gear and canopy it is almost impossible on my 2 helis to get the keychain retainers in. I have 3 and just order 2 more. I know Matt said put something between them and heat the canopy mine just shrinks back in after time. It's really hard not to bubble the paint with a heat gun.

When it comes to aftermarket canopies, yes and yes, I have moved the holes and spaced the canopy mounts out.

Thanks, Robert that is what I am going to do. I don't think it will affect the air flow that was one thing I was wondering about.

I haven't experienced airflow issues.
However one of my canopies was a little thin in the back.
During fast backwards flight I could see the canopy flap a little.
I stiffened mine up with fiberglass but I've seen others use some glue and carbon fiber rod.

Use a blow-dryer a heat gun puts out way too much heat and will ruin the paint.

heat gun works, you just have to be careful is all. that's all I have ever used.

as far as airflow goes, don't worry about that at all. I never fly with a canopy at all and they fly just fine.
