E5 Canopy stand off
« on: September 09, 2013, 10:34:57 AM »
I got my E5 completed assemble, and got it first flight this weekend.  I notice the canopy rubbing against the main gear badly.  The front canopy stand off kinna short.  It this been fix.

Not all the kits seem to suffer from this issue.  If yours is having issues, there are a few things you can try.

On my first E5 kit, I Dremel off part of the canopy.  One side came out better than the other.

Good side.

Not so good side.

On my other E5 kit, I just used the 700E QuickUK magnetic mount long studs.  It gave me sufficient clearance between the canopy and the main gear.  As a bonus, the canopy is now much easier to insert and remove.

A third option would be to just add a few M3 washers on the front canopy mount studs to shim the canopy laterally.
