took me 1 year!!
« on: October 22, 2014, 03:28:42 AM »
sooo! FINALLY im almost done with my e7se! took me almost a year since unpacking my kit! but i could be flying not a long after haloween! :)

4530-500kv motor
cc160hv esc with a fan
rjx cyclic
BK tail servo
spartan espirit fbl
green spinblades
yellow spin tailblades!

i just need batteries and rx and im good to go!

but im actually a bit confused... i read a thread on helifreak about spinblades failing... maybe i should get a set of rails??

and i just cant get a cc governor right on my gaui x3... maybe i should splurge for a FBL with internal governor? (or just pull MSH brain off my protos500?  8) )

cant wait to get it flying!!!!! :)

i am assuming it took that long due to budget reasons, i understand that totally! glad you are finally finished with it, you will love it!

i have no experience at all with spinblades, but i most definitely would go with a set of rail main and tails. you cant beat them. if you have read about spinblades failing somewhere, where there is smoke, there usually is fire.....you dont read about rails flying off helis.... :)

It is my understanding that SpinBlades do not incorporate a safety wire, so that may lead to failures when pushed past reasonable limits.

im on the fence between rail, helix and cyclone...

Never tried Helix, but I've flown Cyclones. They're ok blades but they sound funny at low RPM and their cyclic response is pretty slow compared to Rails. Bottom line: I sold the Cyclones for more Rails. Even Rail 716s have faster cyclic than Cyclone 695s. I just don't think there's a better all-around blade out there than Rails. Rails are stable at high speeds, have fast and crisp cyclic response, and the airfoil is quiet and efficient. On top of that they have good visibility and a cool looking design B-)
At the end of the day, its a personal preference and you fly what you like. This is just my personal experience.

well, my first 700 so i will definetely try more than 1 set of blades... :)

on a side note... since i finally have everything apart from batteries, i started final assembly. namely servo arms and head and tail final setups...
like everyone (i guess) i ran into issue that rjx servos are rubbing on case when using provided button head screws... ordered different ones.. (i guess) they turned out half a milimeter shorter.. in the end, i used a lot of epoxy instead of loctite and epoxied carbon servo arm together with rjx cross arm, epoxied screws in, and epoxied nuts on top... but now im having second thoughts... screws were a LITTLE bit shorter and nut doesnt fully engage... but i used a lot of epoxy... do i have to worry or order another set of arms? or i should be good to go?

personally, i would never risk that. dangerous if the arms let loose.

try using the supplied bolts, put the head of the bolt towards the servo, like it sounds like you had them, then slightly grind off some of the head of the bolt. all of my servos have fit perfectly this way.

The (100-206) M2x6 servo arm screws supplied with the kit are cap heads.  The cap heads may rub against the servo case of certain servos (MKS metal servos and others).  You may try using button head screws which have shallower heads than cap head screws.  Either M2x6 or M2x8 button head screws should work.

As an aside, I use M2x10 screws with lock-nuts, so I don't need Loctite on the nuts.

eh... i dont have access to dremel so i need to source some m2x8 or longer strong button head screws... :) by the way, how do i know, which screws ARE strong enough? for example the ones i ordered now seemed WAY too easy to strip...

For this hobby, you generally want to stick with grade 12.9 steel.  There are many places you purchase grade 12.9 metric screws and hardware.  I mainly stick with the ProTek hardware from AMain.  These ProTek M2x8 button head screws should do the trick.
