54 Tooth Auto gear
« on: January 01, 2014, 08:31:58 PM »
Anyone run into one with a massive high spot. As in having to force it around. I have what I would think is the correct amount of play on the opposite side of the high spot as described in Chris's you tube build video but then at 180 degrees from there I have to push it around then it will free up again. Did I just get lucky and get a bad one?

Check between the teeth for any material that wasn't full removed , also check out the spur gear and bevel gears in the front gearbox.

Also double check the slots in the frame and make sure you are able to get the proper gear mesh with keeping the gearbox square so the spur gear and auto gear align with each other.

As it turns out it is not a high spot. The plastic shims on each side of the main gear are too big I guess. I removed one of the shims and the issue is gone it spins free now. My only concern is that the brass insert on the bottom of the one way hub may get damaged now.

A little light sanding of the delrin shims between the auto rotation gear and the owb might be needed.

Thanks Chris, I wasn't sure if I could sand Delrin successfully.
