First Synergy
« on: November 24, 2013, 12:03:08 PM »
Hello from England UK
I have just got my first synergy it is E5 with the following specification.
Full size silver line V-Bar
Hobbywing 100A ESC using V-Bar governor
KDE 600XF-1100
550 main and 96 tail blades
Speed up gear ratio 4.5/1 using 320-154 and 320-112 spur gears
I am impressed with E5 quality and heli flies well with distinctive sound, maiden the heli yesterday and few more aggressive flight today had a very slight tail wag on certain moves but trying to dial it out no issue as yet but have lost the two small ball bearing off couple of the chain canopy mount already.

Hello.  I have heard of others also mentioning losing the balls from the canopy mounts.  I am not sure why some folks have trouble with those balls and others like me do not.  Batch issue?  Operator issue?  Just bad luck?

Since you are using the 4.5:1 tail ratio, what head speed are you running?  For 550/95 blades, the optimal tail rpm is reported as between 9,500 and 10,000rpm.  With the stock 4.0:1 ration, that would yield a head speed of 2,375 and 2,500rpm.  With your 4.5:1 ratio, the optimal head speed would be more like 2,111 and 2,222rpm.

Hope you get a lot of flying opportunities with your E5.

Thanks, it must be a bad batch with in larger holes or small bearings as they just had been used for couple of days only and about 11 flights.

I am using 2150 2250 and 2350 but most flying is at 2250 head speed that is why I went for speed up tail for better authority.
