Finally getting a Synergy
« on: June 19, 2013, 08:02:39 AM »
Well it looks as though I will be a proud owner of a Synergy E7 next week.  Im looking forward to joining all that fly a fantastic heli.  Now comes the decision what to put inside it to run. Will search the site to see what is the best way to go for a old guy that fly's slowly and forward with a flip or two. If someone knows where a site or post is that helps with the building electronics feel free to point me in that direction.  Again look forward being part of the family and thanks Matt for making it come true.

Welcome Gary

There are plenty of threads here and on Helifreak on setups.  Lots of preferences' and opinions.
I do suggest for a motor you look at the Hacker Turnado A50-12L 470KV.  It has been the old standby and works well.  Reasonably priced also.
You can build the E7 on a budget using Align servos or go all out and put in Futaba HV's!  Lot's of choices!
Do look through the E7 tips and tricks thread also.

Again, Welcome to the Synergy family!

Cheers
Alan

Welcome to the Synergy Family!

You will love that E7! The E7 was my first 700 and still my favorite!

As Alan said there are plenty of great threads around on setups and builds. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Kevin recommends the Hackor Motor, I ran one of those for a good long time, strong efficient motor!  The Scorpion 4035 and 45xx series motors are also great fits!

I am looking forward to hearing how your setup goes, hope to see you out flying that beast soon!

Welcome Gary!  I have also run that Hacker motor and based on what you said your flying style is, I think it would be a really good fit (especially at the price Kevin is offering it at).

Gary,

I personally run Scorpion on all my machines, Based off of what Alan mentioned, if you are in the Market for one, I have 3. To add to that The Hacker is a very Quiet running Very Efficient Motor for Sport flying, and will handle 3D without any issues. The only limiting Factor is Pilot Skill Set. If you are a 3D smack down kinda guy, Buy the Scorpion. But if you are Budget Limited then the Scorpion is a Great alternate. I like them both, and based on the Machine that I build and the type of flying I do, determines which power plant I install. For my scale birds, I run the Hackers. When I'm letting it all out and in the zone, Nothing gets me to Ground Zero quicker than Scorpion!! They really take the Impact Well ;) seriously It is a nice Piece of craftsmanship for sure!! Either way you go, You cant go wrong. ::)   As for you Alan, I'm gonna give you that one for free! lol I'm tired from a drive to come home and ship a bird to another New Synergy Family Member, and drove back to Savanna Georgia this morning at 1:25 am to go fix a real Heli.. Next fly in, Check your Boom supports.. LOL

Best Regards,

Kevin

Kevin knows I am pushing his buttons.  We talk frequently. He does work his butt off and still finds time to support Synergy. His is a asset for sure!
Gary as far as a FBL unit you might want to look at the Ikon.  I am not sure if you are partial to any one unit.
Chris seems to be having good luck with them and you can't beat the price.  I am trying one and so far so good.
The Castle ICE HV120 works well with the Hacker.  I do suggest you go with a separate battery for the receiver, FBL and Servos. Helps with the CG if it is a torque tube version.  Is this a new bird  or second owner?  It is torque tube or belt?

Cheers

Thanks for the info, the E7 is one of the new SE versions.  I am going to keep it simple with pricing and the Hacker motor sounds good.  Will do some research and get back to you.  on another point, is there a way to get around the verification letters that you must type in to do anything?? I can never read them hardly at all so I must listen to them and even then its hard to hear.  Whats the secret??

The verification letters will not be needed after I believe ten posts with your account. It is to prevent spam on the forum from new accounts.

So keep posting  ;D
