Post by: Cliff Chmiel on June 12, 2018, 02:17:09 PM
I think my e-7se motor has finally died getting very very hot , its a scorpion 4525-520kv I have about 1500 flights on it and it was used before I got it. So god know how many flights on it. What do you guys recommend I getting much better at 3d and pushing it pretty hard, have xnova in my 766, and been happy with it come down cool. Any one have a sale on motors? Cliff

The E7se was designed around the 4525-520 Scorpion motor.  That's what I've always ran.  I hear good things about the XNova for sure!

Cliff, I ran an Xnova 4530-500 in my E7SE and it's now in my 766.  I couldn't answer which is better because I've never run the Scorpion 4525-520.  I was really happy with the Xnova, obviously, since it's now in my 766.

Power must be great if you put in the 766, Thanks Rodney

I've also got around 1300 flights on a Scorpion 4530-500. Scorpion sure stands the test of time.

Motors don't really "wear out". Unless you have internal temps above 350F or so, the magnets will never loose their magnetic properties and the coatings on the windings won't melt. Replace the bearings occasionally and they will last for ever. I have scorpions that are well over 5 years old, thousands of flights, they still run like new. Some have even seen water, fire and more! :)

Sounds like you've just put more load on the motor as you've progressed over the years. I'd suggest dialing it back a bit with more efficient collective management, or get a bigger motor.

I love my 4525-520 in 700 electrics!

Good deal! Yeah, the 4530 XNOVA is a larger motor so it's no surprise that it runs cooler in the same heli. Glad you're all set.
