Yea I hear ya! I thought I had found it as well, but apparently not. I'll try the reprograming and setup proceedure once more. If it doesnt work, I'll try the Beast X controller. I know that one works well, it was in my Team Nitro Whiplash. I logged 28 flights on it. So I know it works great.

If this does happen, I'll bring the VX1n with me. I have one week to figure this out! ...and get my Rave fixed!

Yea...I had a fan hub failure yesterday with the Rave. the fand and clutch broke away from the hub! Go figure that one!!! It has been an adventure with this heli lately. It all started with the swashplate coming apart 2 years ago. This led to the tail output shaft, control arm, yoke, bent. The mainshaft bent, both mainshaft bearings shot, and then the main bearing in the motor. All this found one at a time. Wahat I can't figure out, when I replaced the swashplate, the heli flew fine, no shakes or wobbles. Except for a slight foaming in the tank, which became excessive over time. And then I started chasing on problem after another.

About the only things left to replace is the head and feathering shaft...

Update

I ordered the Rave fan hub from two different places in the hopes I would have one by Friday/Saturday at the latest. Wrong!!! >:( So much for two day delivery! Oh well, Monday then…

Now, with the N7, yep the hub was loose on the crankshaft as if the shaft grew 2-3mm :o ??? And there was another thought about the bearings in the motor possibly being bad (loose) that would cause the foaming in the tank. So…while I had the motor out and mostly apart, I replaced both bearings. The main bearing seemed fine, but the front bearing was a different story. Somewhat gritty and loose, side play.

When I installed the fan hub, the nut bottomed out on the shaft leaving the hub loose once again. And to make a long story short, and after three different combination tries, I placed a washer under the nut and all is well with the hub…I hope! ;D

I reprogrammed the VX1n…and data pod…and walked through the full setup. I found one item that I didn't do, assign the gov channel to the gear (for flight mode), so the VX1n wasn't controlling the throttle, just the curves in the radio. Instead of using the "Bert K" settings in the "Style" wizard, I used the "3D" settings and I'll adjust to my likings. Maybe there was something in the "Bert K" that didn't bode to well with this heli.

So later today, I shall see if this problem is finally fixed! If not, I'll use the AR7200BX controller…

Well yesterday was a bummer! :( On the N7 startup, the fan hub broke loose (AGAIN!!! >:() and ended that test flight. Now hold on...cause it gets better! :-[

I brought my Agile 7.2 to temporally replace the Rave (until the fan hub shows up), however...I left the radio (DX8) at home! So no flying that heli...

I also brought my Goblin gasser. I have that heli programmed into my new DX9. I managed two flights on it before I botched the last auto. I lost too much rotor speed and landed a bit hard with a slow rollover. I broke one blade, snapped a link, and broke the elevator servo arm. That's all I found...so far.

Those are the three helis I was planning to bring to Birmingham at the end of this week! So I have some fixing to do!

On a good note...I was able (finally) to do multiple piro-flips in a row. For me, that more than 3-4 flips... ;D

Congrats on the pro flips!!!

Ray, when your installing the hub on the n7, you are using both washers, right? The one supplied with the motor first, the hub, then the second one, then the nut, right?

What nut??? I'm thinking....................OH!!! YES! While munching on an apple, my mind thought you said "then the second one...", and my brain finished it off with "from the kit." LoL!

Yes, I installed the second washer under the nut. However, it spun, so I found a lock washer that's a perfect fit on the crankshaft. I will use that washer and then try this again.

Yes it feels / felt really good to do those piro-flips! I've been working on them for quite some time now. The only problem I'm having now, is adding too much collective pitch. So my piros keep climbing, which is better than before...falling, that or moving sideways...bad collective timing. Its been a struggle for sure, but I kept trying and trying until I stopped thinking about it and just did it. And that's when it all came together.

0 collective for 3/4 of the flip is what really helps me. i will "catch" the heli quickly enough to keep it from moving, but staying at 0 as long as possible keeps her as still as possible. also keeping the prio rate under control and at a rate that you can handle, that is probably the most important thing.

good deal on the motor. its just weird your having that problem, that is a new one to me. lol

I have the motor back together again and in the heli, but I'm not happy with it...the clutch isn't seated right. I was planning to test fly it later today, however, I wait until I show up Friday morning. And instead of a test flight...I might buy the NovaRossi 91 for the N7 with a new fan hub. I've been reading up on this motor and I'm getting excited about it! Then I'll use the O.S.105HZ-R on something else.

So that's about it for now. I shall see what transpire at the fun fly! ;D

Woo Hoo! My N7 is flying a lot smoother! Thanks to the guys at the B-Ham fun fly!!! ;D These are some amazing people, all I did was ask one person for help and 10 people jumped in to help. Matt Botos was a big help with the fan hub issue. It was assembler error (me ::)). Matt and I had a great conversation about the Synergy N7, some of the great ideas he incorporated into the design. Matt & Amy are just wonderful people! ;D

And now to fix the O.S.105HZ-R problem…aka needle and reg issue. The quirky Spartan Vortex VX1n problem was due to the factory tape. We replaced it with some 3M gray tape and now the N7 flys hands free! Well, for several seconds.

The first day has been awesome! The people in Alabama are wonderful!

I'm glad I made the trip to B-Ham! ;D I met a lot of wonderful people there! True Southern hospitality!

Team Synergy was fantastic, you guys came to help sort out my issues with my N7. Looks like I found the right heli home. ;D
