Man down
« on: April 07, 2013, 10:28:03 AM »
So I put the E7 in today, first flight of the day and its first crash ever. While that's something no heli pilot I know enjoys, it's just that much worse when a fellow airplane club member holds his hands up, claps, and says that's what I like to see. Hmm, that caused quite a stir at the field today.  Hatred for helis runs deep at my field.  Positive note the E5s is almost done just needs blades and setup.

Sorry to hear that Kevin.
Yes there are some plankers that just can't get along with Heli Pilots.  I can call them plunkers because I fly both.  More Heli's than planks these days though.

At least that first crash is out of the way and not hanging over your head  ;)

Cheers
Alan

I had that problem at a club I belonged to. The secretary of the club worked across the the street from me. I told him about the airplane guys not letting me fly. The there was a conversation with the prez and VP. They talked to the members at a meeting but that did not help. Got my club dues back for that year and went some place else.

Here in Indy we have a Heli only club. Quite nice. No planes allowed to fly at our field.

Thanks guys, I don't normally post this kinda stuff but talk about kickn a guy when he's down. I would love to start a helis only club. We had a great place to fly just for helis but when a friend of ours passed away the trio folded. So back to plankerville. I'm always on the hunt.

Wow, that really sucks.  WTF is wrong with some people!?  That would made me want to walk over and stomp his plank into toothpicks.

Hate to Hear that, I know that issues like that are everywhere ! I hate that for you, Bottom line I think they are Jealous. Remember it takes more Skill to fly a Heli than an Airplane (Certain Flying Styles don't apply). Keep your chin up brother! I am fortunate to belong at a club that respects both, The Prez flies Helis as well.. Good Luck!

There weren't alot of heli guys at our field, small handful, and when I showed up all of a sudden it was like every other weekend another heli would make it to the field! lol. So this morning I got up chkd our facebook club group page and ANOTHER guy is dusting off his heli getting it ready to come out this weekend!  I like to think its in response to what happened last weekend to me but anyway I think we're growing so fast that the plankers are just going to have to lay down arms! lol

So anyway, headn to Statesboro GA Saturday to break in my packs for Huntsville.

Weird, I get nothing but respect when I am taking my helis out of or putting them back into my vehicle, not matter which field I fly. Not sure why...

That's propably also pretty good fail safe to get your heli back to ground if it tries to flee. :D

We've also had our share of bad attitude here. Though, I would say quite a lot of it has been that some plankers are perhaps a bit scared of near, fast and unpredicatbly flying helis and that's why they don't like them.

Did you find a new field yet?  I have been talking with the LHS about starting a Heli club.  I just need the extra time first.

We did find a field!! A little less than 800x600. and perfect for helis!! One of our officers rents land for his business from the same guy that the club is now renting from..sort of a who ya know instance. Its been fantastic we piled out there yesterday afternoon and had a ball and was home in time for dinner! So glad we started this club!
