What brand hex drivers do you use?
« on: April 10, 2013, 04:22:55 PM »
I've seen everything form $5 bucks to $25 bucks each for hex drivers.  I just want to buy a quality set.  Any suggestions on what's been working for you guys that have been doing this awhile?   Thanks for your input.

All MIP here. Never an issue. At 12-18 bucks each depending on where you get them, i hope they hold up.

I use Dynamite brand and never had a complaint.  Very nice fit and replaceable tips.

I use Wiha for ball tips.  Ball tips help when needing to access screws at an angle, but generally strip easier that straight tips due to less surface area contact.

I pretty much use Dynamite for most other metric tools.  The Dynamite straight tip hex drivers have tapered tips, and are thus easy to insert into screw heads.  Dynamite also makes very good quality reamers (for making holes on canopies), and nut drivers.

Thanks for the input, going to try the MIP's.  Ordered from AMain about $12 ea. free shipping. Glad I asked.

I've been using the JR Heli Toolkit without issue.

I use Mavrikk hex drivers. They come with straight tip and ball tip. They are hardened and haven't worn out a bit. You can buy replacement tips too.

Too funny.  I use Dynamite drivers, too, and have been very happy with them.  I just snapped one last week, using it as a pry bar. I was able to file a new flat into the end of it and put it back in the handle.  It works great.

I have literally own 90% of the hex drivers made "for the r/c industry" and MIPs are hands down the best. I use the tool bits and have my own ratcheting handle for them. They make straight and ball-end.

Ok got my new MIP hex drivers in Saturday and started overhauling my HK500 (never again) that the tail bearing failed after 24 minutes of flight. 12 of which were test hovering.  Anyway, I thought I was dealing with cheep screws but it was cheep tools.  Real nice drivers. Thanks to all of you for your great advice..    :)
