Post by: Cliff Chmiel on May 28, 2015, 07:31:52 AM
hello all,  I bought a E7/ with se upgrades from a member here, with a 4525-520 motor, what esc? iwas thinking cc 120 or the 160hv ( i have the 120hv in my e5) and for servos? )im running BK7001HV AND A MKS tail servo in my e5 and a ikon) with no problems at all. now for batteries do i need 6s and 45c or highter, thanks Cliff

Cliff
This may depend on flying style. The 4525 can potentially pull over 200amps burst.
I would use the Talon 120 with a fan. I really like this ESC and the built in BEC is essentially a BEC Pro.  You do not get logging with the Talons but to have the built in BEC is worth it.
For batteries again depends on how hard you push things. 45c packs are typically not that much more than a 30c packs price wise these days. I wouldn't worry about going much higher than 45c though.

Cheers
Alan

Alan, on the talon 120 has a bec built in cool can handle the 200amp burst, i have the cc bec pro in my e5, also do you guys run a radio battery or just take power from one of the 6s, On the batteries there a big diff in price when you go higher the 45c. And im sure i will have to have a new lid too

That burst number is probably not going to be seen by me :-) Matt maybe...
Seems to me that Clint at Castle mentioned that at least one pro pilot was using the Talon on a 700 size machine with no issues. I am ultimately going to put one on my E7.  I am running VBar with sensors so I really don't need the castle logging.

You can't go wrong with more Amps!
As long as the pocket book can handle it.  Add. BEC pro and you will be good to go.
Now if you really want the Cadillac I can make you a deal on. a Kosmik :-)

Cheers

Now for blades 716 or the 696and tail blades too, e7se has stock tail ratio, I fly some 3d but not the wild and crazy stuff like big air and fast

I would suggest you try the 716 FAI Rail blades Cliff. Great blades and you will love them. Good for big air and smooth 3d. I am using 116 tails on an F3C setup with lower head speeds (down in 1400 range) and the 11t spur gear.
You can use 106's and the stock gearing with normal  head speeds.

Plastic blade spacers? Rail Blades come with the metal ones. The tail blade spacers are part number 206-804.

Ready for maiden, setup is 4525-520 motor, 160hv esc with fan, CC Bec pro, BK 7001hv servos, Mks tail servo,Ikon with blue tooth, 716 mains and 106 tails and I have 116s too just in case. I used some of 3d helis stuff the esc mount bec mount and the mounts for the sats, everything fit perfect. Batteries 4500ma 45c. Now just have to set batteries with some Velcro and find the CG, I went threw the ship with a fine tooth, on run up on the bench found tail made odd noise with left tail rotor, found tail blade holder bearing was locktighted to shaft, Blade holder was not floating on shaft, took all a part and re grease with boto lube, noise is gone, locktight all pins in tail boxes. Hope to maiden this weekend  :)

Maiden was great. in just a few mins. was doing rolls ,loops flips on the deck feels a lot like my e5 just much more power, at 1800 I get the wobble but at 1950 its gone and real smooth. At full pitch punch outs right side up and upside down tail kicks a little, may be too much pitch but 12 d.  I don"t  hear a bog so maybe some pitch precom, but other then that its was awesome. 3 flights on the e7 and 4 on the e5 and flew some planks too, great day everything home in one piece.  :)
