Hey Matt,
The tail transmission gear that came with the TT kit.  The milling just wasn't very clean in comparison to the main gears you supply in the E6/E7 kits.  Lots of chaff so to speak left on the gear. 
I hope to get this one in the air later this week.  Will let you know if there we any issues with the shifting of the gear box.  Again this was a very small amount.

TT drive installed and tested, no problems here.

I did have to sand one of the Delrin shims to free up the auto.

TT shaft tolerance could be a LOT better. The OD and ID vary a lot, making centering one bearing a problem and the other easy.
One drive wobbled badly and predrilled hole was to close to the end.

I still rather build a straight & true shaft then buy an assembled untrue one.

Just a note.....Original style main gear, make sure you pay close attention to page 6 of the manual. The ribs on the original main gear will come very close to interference with the 12T spur gear if shimmed in the original manner.

After TT conv. the main gear is about 2-3 mm away from lip on pinion.....one-way has always been installed wrong so my auto hub has always been upside down...is that the problem?  I had to sand one of the delrin shims quite a bit to free up auto....may be too loose the other way around....how important is it for main gear to be flush with pinion lip ?  If it's the auto hub...any advice on pressing out one-way?  Thx

Both of mine also had the main gear sit 2-3mm lower after the torque tube install. I don't think it's anything to worry about. If the rest of your system is working OK, don't bother with trying to remove the one-way bearing.

Yes, both, although I had to sand one of them quite a bit...was super tight at first, thinking it was gear mesh at first - I loosened up all main shaft bearing block screws, screws for TT trans, that helped a little bit, tightened everything back up, sanded shim/checked, sanded/checked until it was just a little 'snug', knowing it might loosen up after a few flights - and now its about perfect, if anything I took a little bit too much off of the one shim, just slight play in main gear now, not as bad as before TT though...

Hi guys,

I'm putting together my E7 TT kit and the auto hub came pre-assembled to the spur gear hub. I'm trying to get them apart to check and make sure the 2 delrin shims are on top of the auto hub but cannot get them apart. Auto hub doesn't spin as free as it probably should and I was going to sand one of the shims a little like others have done. Any suggestions?

Did your auto hub and spur gear hub come in two pieces? Trying to figure out why mine came different from the way it looks in the instructions.

Got the two pieces apart. The auto hub sleeve that goes through the hub is a tight press fit into the spur gear hub on mine. Heated it up a little and spun them apart.

The mesh between my 12T and 54T spur gears is tight with no backlash at any position.

As the gears rotate there is a high spot in the mesh that is very tight and as such the main shaft cannot spin freely without force (It is not due to the delrin shims being too thick.) How much backlash do you guys have here?

Is there any adjustment built into the spur gear assembly or should i just let the gears wear down by flying?
