E7se Vbar Tail Setup
« on: October 23, 2013, 09:43:06 AM »
.I noticed when setting up the tail if I have the servo horn @ 90 and the tail bellcrank 90 it puts the tail blades at a high degree of pitch.  I know from past vbar setups that the tail pitch should be around +3 degrees when servo and bellcrank are @ 90 degrees.

I don't know the exact measurement, but I think its around 4-5 degrees on the synergy?? Again don't quote me.

It works great with vbar though. Just center tail servo horn, make sure bell crank is 90 to the boom, set the end points and you are ready. The more even the travel numbers the better the vbar will perform.

Never had any trouble with tail performance with Vbars on any of my Synergy Helicopters.

Yep, +- 5 degrees is the sweet spot with the Vbar.

Nycatt - I hope you don't mind if I ask a question in your thread but I have a related question maybe I can get the Team guys to answer.

I'm using a Futaba BLS256HV tail servo with the 4 arm servo horn.  The outer hole appears to be exactly 16mm as specified in the manual but it takes vbar travel values 130-140 in both directions to get the tail pitch slider any where near full throw.  The vbar software says values over 120 mean the servo arm is too short.  Do I need to max out the tail slider?  Is a longer servo arm available?  I would be curious to hear what you guys are running wrt - servo arm, pitch slider travel and vbar tail travel values.  Thanks in advance.

I always try to keep those numbers as close to 100 as possible by using a long enough servo horn.

How long is your servo arm?

Does that give you full travel on your slider?

Slightly less than full but I'm not noticing any lack of speed in either direction.

Same numbers for me, and tail performs great.

I am getting a slight wag. Everything from the servo down to the tail slider feels smooth as silk, even smoother than another pilot with the exact same setup at a ff without a wag. I'm going to try to grease thrust bearings next.

Any effect by adjusting gain?

What tail servo are you running?
