Which FBL controller
« on: November 11, 2012, 06:09:38 PM »
I'm having some issues with my micro beast on another helicopter and don't think I want to use that for the E5.   Which FBL controller are most of the Team Synergy pilots using?

I'm not a big fan of the Microbeast either.  I run the Futaba CGY-750 and so does a few others, but everyone has their personal preference.

Varied I'm sure.
As for myself I use and love the V-Bar. I know lots of guys are also having great success using the Futaba CGY 750.
Good luck on making your choice.
One thing is for sure, you should choose one FBL controler that you love and then get to know it inside out and use only this brand in all your helis. This way if a problem occurs you should be able to fix it with your eyes closed.

Really no wrong answer here, really depends on what you're comfortable with.

I have flown most I tend to stick with the vbar. But that's a personal preference

I am running microbeast on everything and really like it.  The tail takes a little extra to get sorted. But works fine.
I have an AR7200BX waiting for my E5
I can understand changing controllers if your having issues.  But if you want help sorting it out, you can find help here also.

Great info.  I am looking at the Futaba, but will it work with a spektrum controller?  I think there is an adapter but haven't investigated enough to find out if it is available and works with it.  The V bar seems pretty nice too.

Hi,

I have been running the Futaba CGY750 for a while now and really like it. I made the switch from Spektrum and decided to go with the 8FG Super, the CGY750 work really well with this radio giving gain adjustment from the transmitter. The CGY750 also sets up very quickly and easily.

I have found that tweaking the 750 takes a little time to begin with but once you know your way around the unit its very easy and quickly done.

The CGY750 is able to be connected to other brand of receivers by using the SBE-1 SBUS Encoder, which connected to the SBUS port of the CGY750 and then converts to the standard connectors on any seperate receiver.

Hope this helps
Cheers

Vbar here too on everything. There is really no bad answers as said before. I picked V-bar because it has the largest following and somebody somewhere has the answer to any question you may have. I have set up many controllers and believe it to be the easiest all the way around.

One other thought is to use what your buddies at the field use for local help assuming they know it well.

I'm Beastx user since it went to market. I also have an AR7200BX to simplify wiring but it is the same FBL unit inside. No issue, rock solid.

I am having good luck with the Helicommand units.  The HC3-Extreme is now $250 and comparible to the VBAR IMHO...  The software setup is similar to the VBAR in expert mode.
I have flown Beast, CGY-750, VBAR and HC.  Not a bad unit among them and still fly all but the Beast.  VBAR and HC are my favorites though.

Cheers

I have own a 750 and a full size Vbar. Both work good. I would fly the 750 on nitro because the governor works better. I am going to run Vbar on my E7 and see how that works. You can not go wrong with either one.

I have heard good things about the Brain, but have not flown one.

I have helped a friend setup a brain, and he plans to run another on his N5c he is piecing together.  They fly good, the setup is a touch more straight forward than VBar, but the Brain's advanced setup seems trickier to me.

What settings are you going to have on your E5 with the ar7200bx? I've used this on my 450 but not sure what settings to use with the bigger servos etc
