Title: Any updates to the E5 kits?
Post by: curmudgeon on July 17, 2016, 07:35:29 AM
I am in the market for a new E5 kit.  Do new kits come with updated parts like the 305-208 Heavy Duty Washout Control Arms (http://mattbotos.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20_34&products_id=1968), the 200-411 SE metal tail pitch slider (http://mattbotos.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4_27&products_id=1964), Hard Coat 12T and 14T pinions, the 200-406 swash plate (http://mattbotos.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20_28&products_id=2195), or any other improvements or upgrades compared to the first release?

Yes to the pinions & washout arms... I do not think the slider & swash do tho.. The original slider works great tho! Haven't had a chance to try the new swash.. But the stock swash is solid.. And if u need more pitch/res.. U can use the long ball on the inner ring to the grip arms(must grind down the thread length so not to impede on the swash ball).. Just finished a E5S build and hope to maiden it today! This is a great machine! Light! Pull the trigger man!

That's good to know about the hard coat pinions and the HD arms.  I owned an E5s (sold), E7SE (sold), and E5 (lost), so I am very familiar with the old style swash.  I did not have any issues with the E5 plastic tail slider, but I upgraded it to the E7SE as soon as it came out.

Good to know that if I order a new E5 kit, I will not have to worry about the pinions or the HD arms.  Thanks.

I just ordered a new E5 kit.   Are we 100% sure that the new E5 kits come with "hard coat" pinions?   If so, how do I tell a regular pinion vs. a "hard coat" pinion?

The hard anodize pinions are more of a brown color while the non-hard anodize is black.
