IKON or MSH Brain and Futaba RPM Magnet Sensor
« on: November 16, 2014, 01:53:03 AM »
Hi there

My n5c is almost ready and I am just having some issues with the magnet sensor that I have here.

Chris Sexton mentions in his great setup video at 1:50 that one can use the Futaba sensor as well as the spectrum sensor although he is using the align sensor. Now he mentions that we need the adapter cable, that i have here.
When I hook up the sensor it is reversed, meaning it shows "magnet detected" when there is no magnet and the check box disables once the magnet is under the sensor. I suspect this is no good.

I read in several places that it might be necessary to reverse plus/minus on the sensor, that did not help. In fact the sensor and my MSH Brain did heat up quite badly.

I have to Futaba sensors. One came along with my CGY 750, the other came along with a telemetric rpm sensor from futaba.

Is there a way I can get the futaba sensor to work as it is supposed to be?

best regards,
Attila

This usually means your sensor is too close to the bell and the magnets aren't reading right. Try increasing the gap about 1mm and try again.

Well I have tried it, but even if it is not mounted, it Shows "magnet detected". That means, it is far away from a magnet. as soon as i bring the right side of the magnet very close, the Checkbox will be unchecked. I tried this with two futaba magnet sensors.

can anyone verify, that it really works with the futaba sensor?

I am running align sensors on both right now but I have ran futaba sensors in the past.

Did you make the adaptor yourself or buy it?

Maybe try reversing the polarity?
