Running 12s 5000 with the batteries placed as far back as possible.
My batteries are 55mm past the carbon fiber battery plate.
I have no issues with the canopy and the batteries.

If I recall, that's about how far Dr. Ben's battery sticks out the front. I need to ask him how he gets CG right.

The canopy fits, but just barely.  Batteries actually touch the canopy up front.

My batteries have to stick way out because they're light, I have a lightweight motor in it, and a light ESC (hacker 150 14L motor and castle HV80Esc, batteries are 610gm per pack, versus the 6s/5000's I have which are 719 or the 6s/5500's which are 780. So,.. 1/2 to 3/4 lb lighter than the larger packs, and those weights are lower than most commonly used 5000's (new series flightpowers, very high energy density). comparing 6S packs in the 5000mah class you can see 1/4 pound or more difference in the different brands and even c ratings within a brand have  significant differences. I'm also using some servos that aren't commonly used in a heli. Most common heli servos are 2.25 to 2. 5ounces, and the 2470's I'm using are 1.5 . Ready to fly I'm at roughly  9 and 3/4 lbs with the 12S setup but If I cut a few more grams there's no way it would CG well.

Hmm...there's hope for mine as I'm using RJX 0521 servos and if I don't get the Kontronik motor/ESC setup I'll be running a Scorpion 4035-560 and CC Edge 120HV.
