I can't buy good luck.
« on: March 30, 2013, 07:06:12 PM »
Well, my string of awesome(ly bad) luck is continuing.  Last week when I was doing a test hover in my driveway, my SK540 reset as I was hovering and destroyed my brand new Rail 606 blades.  I figured it was because I hadn't secured all the wires to the receiver with Shoe Goo.  Today I gave it a shot again after securing everything and it's still doing it.  I thought it might be the power switch so I took it out of the circuit and plugged the receiver pack straight into the SK540 but it's still doing it.  As soon as I start spooling up the engine, the SK540 resets.  Luckily, I installed a throttle return spring and since it's happening on the ground, the engine is just shutting down.  I turned logging on and ran it through it doing it again and sent the log file to Skookum.  The very first SK540 that I bought did the same thing.  >:(  They did replace it but I'm really bummed since it's 70 degrees and perfect outside.  On the plus side, my E5 is back in the air and it's flying amazing!

Since I'm waiting for parts for the E7, I'm going to take the SK540 off of it tonight and give it a try on the N5c.

Sorry to hear of your SK problems  :(
Are you ready to try a Bavarian Demon (aka Helicommand)?

Cheers

I'm not really necessarily against trying something else but I really like the way the Skookum flies.  I was super happy with the governor, too, until this last update.  I did finally dig into my E5 today and found that my rpm sensor may actually be bad so it's probably not a Skookum issue with the governor, after all.  Oops...

The only reservation I would have about the Bavarian demon is the lack of a governor.  I've been using the Scorpion Commander's governor on the E5 since the SK540 governor stopped working and it really seems to hunt for the target rpm way more than the SK.  I suppose it could be a matter of adjusting the gains, some, I don't know.  I do know that on the E5 and E7, with the SK governor, they stay very consistent throughout the flight.
