Gear Mesh Adjustment
« on: October 17, 2011, 12:12:36 PM »
I'm finishing the setup of my E7 and I try to figure how to adjust my gear mesh. I usualy use a piece of paper for this.
Do you, guys, have a better way to do that ?
Thanks

With slanted gear paper method does not work as well. Lolo bring you heli to the club or to my place and we will look at it together, we will get it set-up perfect.

Hi Lolo,

I found with meshing the E6/7 that i could use the paper method but i cut a slither of paper about 12mm wide and just fed it in between the pinion and main gear but i found it important to equally push both the motor mount and lower bearing support together to mesh correctly otherwise it would twist and be offset

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hi Lolo!

Personally, at work for gear mesh, i use fishing line! This is precise and fast.

You have to put your gear together and just slide the fishing line between the tooth. If you can remove the fishing line easy, your ok !

This work with any kind of gear !

you'd want the least amount of backlash , without having too tight
a mesh, the main gear should turn easy. This is for cold weather coming
as the gear will shrink a fraction.

Yan,

I have heard of that trick with the fishing line, and never heard anything negative about it. Pretty cool Tip!!

You can also use phone line. You just have to remove the shield on the coper wire!
