Anyone go thru any bearings on their hacker motors with helical gears? I have read some horror stories but this could be with older hacker motors and not new tornado.

I have not had an issue with mine, and I have not seen Matt or anyone else have and issue with theirs. If there was one, I would think it would happen under the extreme stress some of these pilots have put on their setup.

Excessive motor bearing wear is more likely to occur with ships that don't have the pinion/shaft support bearing design. The E6/7 has bearing support for the end of the motor shaft.

I have been flying the helical gears on my 700E and here are my answers to your questions...
- Is it truly more quiet? Yes!! MUCH quieter.
- Any more efficient with increased flight time? Not noticeable
- Is anything breaking? Yes!! (see below)
- Are your motor bearings surviving? Toasted the stock motor bearings / shaft after 150 flights and the bearings on my new Hacker A50-12L after about 100 flights.
- How many flights do you have using these new M1 gears. See above
- What is the Align helical pinion gear made of? Not sure
- Is the Align helical main the same CNC quality, or is it better quality? I haven't had a main gear strip yet after many hard flights so I think it's OK!!

Toasted another outer bearing on my new Hacker motor (100 flights)!! If any company would like to hire me to test your product, I am available and I promise to put it through it's paces!! LOL!!
I just found out today that the cause of the bearing failure is the helical gear exerting a great amount of force on the pinion which puts excessive force on the bearing. Hopefully a shim will take care of the problem!!

Well I don't have 100 flights on mine yet, but no bearing issues so far. I pulled the motor out last week to check the bearings when I had the main gear out to check the OWB.

Same here, only have 72 flights on mine but no bearing issues. I think the the degree of angle is another thing which could favor the Synergy design.

Same thing for me !
No problem with hacker 470 motor.
Synergy E6/E7 have a very good gear design.

I have around 85 flights on my hacker 470Kv motor, no problems yet!

106 flights on the E6 @10S
56 flights on the E7@12S
Both running hacker motors and no bearing issues

I can't speak for other helicopters but for the E6/7, setup your helical pinion height correctly and you will not have an issue. I designed it to cancel out helical forces.
On the E6/7 the bottom of the pinion should be in contact with the lower shaft support bearing. If it is not set up this way the helical forces will pull down on the shaft.
If this is happening on a Trex700E you might get better answers concerning this topic in a Trex700E forum.

I do not have a trex 700. I figured you had designed the helicopter to accommodate this possible issue. I wanted to see if anyone has had any issues with there hacker motors with this design which others are having on the trex. Just need to get my velocity 90 sold to pull the trigger on a synergy!
