What do I need to know about the set screw on the swashplate? How tight or loose do I need it? What does it do?

The set screw removes play from the swash bearing.  If you tighten it, do so gently. Barely any force at all is needed.  There are all quotes from "Obi Won Botos".  Don't use the "force" on the set screw.

Yes, you may oil it with Triflow.  The same with the main shaft, and tail output shaft.

I was wondering if anyone has a really tight swash ball to main shaft fit? It takes a lot of force to move the swash on the shaft. I lubed the shaft with oil and it wasn't much help. The gear hub all fit perfectly, and the shaft measures 9.95 MM. The swash ball measures 9.95-10.00MM- depending on how hard I push on the caliper. There is a really tight spot about 2" down for about 1/2" and then it slightly loosens up. Not nearly enough to be functional though.

My swash did not slide onto the main shaft more than half way through the swash ball. I spent an hour linishing the inside diameter of the swash ball, then accidentally dropped it on the ground while doing this!! Damaged the swash ball now it has tight spots where damaged.

It kinda put me off the build a little but other than that its a sweet machine!

I'll get a new swash and push on look forward to a maiden.

My swash was a little tight when putting it on the main shaft, but after I slid it down on to the shaft it is smooth as butter.

Just sand the shaft with fine sandpaper (400+) or steel wool and it should free it up.  I've had to do this on other helis.

I had to do sand the main shaft lightly too on my first E5. On my second one, it was a perfect fit from the box. Easy enough to do.
