Cyclic servos won't fit my N7
« on: September 15, 2014, 07:45:10 PM »
I've read a few topics on here about people struggling to fit cyclic servo's due to the wire fouling the bearing frames. Never had an issue myself with either my E7 or E5, both running spektrum servos with great results. So the choice was easy when my N7 came along. Now I've had this kit and all it's gear since it's release, but have only just managed to get started on it but to my horror 2 of the 3 cyclic servos won't fit  :-\
These are spektrum H6200 HV servos.

Bummer!! I run RJX's on my N7 which are a tight fit, but doable if I hard mount them to the bearing blocks. I also had to lower the top bearing block into place once the servos were sitting on the lower block or I would never have squeezed them in otherwise.

Modified bearing blocks with a servo lead groove to facilitate easy replacement if the servos or gears would be nice. I haven't seen any in person, but my guess is that Futaba servos probably slide in perfectly.

Hi Mylee,

Sorry to see your having an issue installing those servos, i am not 100% but i believe the H62xx series servo's were originally designed for the Blade X-Pro 550/600/700 Series of helicopters and they are considerably shallow compared to standard servos.

Any standard sized servo with an approx size of 40mmx20mmx37mm (LxWxD) should fit without any issue.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Ross

They are shallow Ross, just measured them. But they also have the removable plug, which isn't helping.
Problem is I can't even swap them with my E5 or E7 >:(
Looks like a very expensive mistake on my part.
It's either another set of servo's or get the welder out and modify the bearing frame  8)

I'm pretty sure Matt designed the servo mounts around Futaba but each brand is a tiny bit different. Like any good kit just gotta modify it a bit.
