Hi Guys

I had a chance to take her for a spin today , tried the 716's with 106 tails for 1st flight , found a wobble at 1900 and 1950 , i think it relates to the dampers being to stiff , i have the .5mm shim in either side and will try .3mm and see how she goes, so i flew her at 2050 and she was fine , I will be changing my motor , i currently have the 4530 500 LE Scorpion and it was bogging during big fast loops and pitch pumps , I will be going for the Ultimate as i know its proven itself in the E7,

I liked the feel of the 716's but bogged way to much and sucked the juice , i found on my 2nd flight that it was more suited to 696's for me, I only had time to try the 106 tails and the tail was locked in with them  , so it will be interesting to see if the 116's are better

It was windy and  gusting up pretty bad at some stages during the flight and i usually set my agility on Vbar to 100 , i accidentally had tweaked it up to 120, ooops  :o so i was a little uncomfortable at times LOL   i've only been in the air a just over a year now so i'm no expert   but i have fun :)

Congrats on your Maiden!  I know what you mean.  It's hard to wait  ;D
The SE hasn't liked 1700-1850 typically.  I do run mine at 1850 without any bobbles though.  Have you tried kneading the dampeners as Kevin mentioned in another thread?  If not give that a try before changing shims.  Dropping down to 0.3 is more than likely going to give you too much play on the head axle.  I do use 0.5's on my SE's.
The 4530 has worked well for me running both 716's and 696's.  My 696 SE has the 4530-500 and the 716 SE runs a 4530-450.  The 716 bird runs at 1700 rpm.  How is your Gov gain?  Have you tried increasing that? I assume you are running the 12t pinion?

Collective management is the key.  Going to a 4535 is fine but you may want to stay as is and work on collective management.  You can bog any motor if you try hard enough ;D   If you want a balance between good flight times and power the 4530 is great. IMHO

Cheers

Hi Alan

I'll give the dampers a knead and play with the gov gain a little more, I like the lower head speeds so i would like to get her running around between 1900-2000 max , whats your Vbar Gov gain at ?

The Ultimate is the 4525 520 what Matt runs in his, i wouldn't put a 4535 in my E7se , although i bet it could handle it , I'm thinking the Ultimate might be better suited to my style of flying and give me a bit more to run the 716's when i want to practice AR's and relax a bit more

I'm used to a Goblin with a 4530 540LE and I am yet to bog it ,my other heli is a Raptor E720 with a Pyro Comp 700-52  also no bogging with my style of flying ,

have you flown the Ultimate and whats your thoughts on it ?

i noticed the 450KV with the 716's  what have you found different between the 2 different KV's ?

BTW I am running the 12th pinion

Cheers
Andrew

Based on scorpion specs the 4530 has slightly more power than the 4525. Not sure how changing to it will solve your bogging? Or is that not the consideration? Not that much difference between the 4530 and 4525 looking at output in watts.

I don't run vbar. Bavarian Demons with the Jeti ESC.
I have never used the 4525.
The 450kv works well for lower head speeds instead of dropping the cell count.

Hi Alan

sorry i had my specs confused  :-[,I need to spend more time tuning her in properly , i get a little impatient sometimes :)

I am also learning Vbar gov at the moment , i have been running my helis on the Kontronik gov until recently and have found the Vbar gov to be a lot better, so i need to do some more research to properly understand on how to set it up correctly,

I will stick with the 4530 , ultimately i would like to set this bird up with 716's as that was my original intention.

what headspeed are you running with the 716's  and is it worth me changing to a lower KV if i mainly want to fly with the 716's ?

thanks for your help with this Alan it is appreciated :)

Cheers
Andrew

I have run mine at 1600 and 1700.  I don't have that many flights in the 716's.. The 500KV on 12S should be okay in the 1900 range.  If you are shooting for 1700 it may not be very efficient unless you drop the cell count.

Hi Alan

i took her out for a good run today and she was perfect :)

I had the max HS gov setting too high and was not much room left for the gov , i read Kevins post and kneaded them for maybe 5 mins each rolled them on a bench with my thumb , softened them right up , my fingers and thumbs were aching for while though :)

i regreased the dampeners  put it all back together took it for 1 flight and she was beautiful , 1950 and 2000 , just how i like it no wobble to be seen and with the Vbar gov set correctly ,  no bogging either  :D

this new Heli is awesome  , i had the biggest smile on my face this afternoon, was surprised at how quick and locked in  it was  ,  made my birthday  ;D

Great to hear?

I haven't needed to knead (lol...) my dampners but I imagine that could get hard on the fingers?
And believe me. The smiles will continue.
