Clunk line length

I was able to get the OS Bubbleless in the tank with the oring just have to be careful as it rolls easily. But the first time I went to take the clunk out to shorten the line the oring fell off into the tank. Talk about a PITA. So I am running with no oring also.

How hard would it be to go back and add an OS Bubbleless clunk as an "upgrade" after the tank is already installed?

I hope to start my N7 build within a couple of weeks, but it appears that the OS Bubbleless clunk is out of stock everywhere until at least the end of June...

Not hard at all. Just be careful taking the grommet out. It wil tear easier coming out than in. They are cheap I leep a couple on hand incase.

I have very good luck with the fuel magnet. Just be sure not to store it with the tank empty.

What is the purpose of the O Ring on the OS bubbleless tank clunk? OS says "The silicone-rubber O-ring prevents internal damage to fuel tank by acting as a bumper"  Really?  I don't get it.  Will the clunk really damage the tank without it?
I can't see that but assume there is some purpose for it.  I can't insert it into the tank with the O-ring on it.

Hi Bob,

I run the same clunk on my N7, it is a bit of a fiddle to get it in the tank but it will go in with a bit of encouragement, I found the best way is to angle the clunk slightly and feed it in bit by bit then it will go in.

The silicone O-Ring on the clunk prevents the sintered material of the clunk from rubbing the inside of the tank, it is not a huge problem to run the clunk without the O-Ring but over time you will be able to see where the clunk has rubbed during flight.

I'm also running the OS bubble-less clunk.  I'm running some extra weight on mine though, I machined a small weight that goes over the fuel line and butts up against the clunk.  For me this set up works just as good as the fuel magnet.  The extra weight really helps to keep the clunk in the fuel at all times.  You do have to keep a closer eye on the clunk line though.

Actually yes a weighted metal clunk will eventually beat a hole in the tank. Seen it with my own eyes on a friends n5c at BHam this past March. The oring softens the impact. I would run it. It's a tight fit but if you are careful it will fit.

Take the o-ring off insert the clunk with the fuel line attached slide the o-ring down the line into the tank and pull back against the tank opening and the o-ring will roll back into the groove.
