well finaly braved the cold to maiden my n5c,, so with a very rich motor i popped it up into the air and all i can say is i love it  ;D,,it flew like it was on rails and a bit of tweeking with the fbl controller im sure it will be absolutly awesome,,now for those that read my thread about my dilemma with the tail offset and my fbl controller,,well i decided to go with what all the sk540 users said and run the tail at zero degrees and it was great apart from a small twitch which im sure ill iron out once the motor is run in and not running so rich but next time out im going to run it with its 5 degrees of pitch like its supposed to have and see the difference,,one thing i have noticed is that the teflon heatshrink added to the tail controll rod doesnt seem to run that smooth through the guid holes so is it possible to buy that any where so i can have another attempt at putting it on to see if i can make it smoother,,,also i noticed what sounds like the tail belt slapping the inside of the boom but only when its on a high tickover on the ground,,now my belt in not over tight but it certainly isnt loose either

Congratulations on your maiden, good to hear everything went well and that your enjoying your new N5C.

The sleeping for the tail pushrod is available under Synergy part number:( 106-965)

With gears to the slapping noise, it may be that your belt might need adjusting sightly and tightened up a little. Another possibility could be that with the engine running rich this will cause the engine to run roughly and therefore require a higher than normal throttle and this can cause the clutch to engage the clutch bell for a split second when the revs fluctuate and this can cause a 'ting' sound.

Try checking the belt tension and adjust if necessary, if you find that the clutch is engaging causing the 'tinging' sound then try to lower the idle trim while the engine is idling.

hi ross ,,yes im well pleased with the maiden and know im just going to love this heli,,it deffinately the belt in the boom as i stood quiet close behind it,,it was only after the 5th flight i heard so maybe the belt loosening up a little,,,do u just use a hair dryer for the heatshrink on the tail rod

cheers alan,, i havnt flown for 5 months so was a little shakey but my nerves soon went ,,set my fbl controller to snail mode lol and the heli is still very lively so im looking forward to cranking it up once ive blown my cobwebs off,,,,found some of the heat shrink tube  ;D

I understand.  I do that as a rule anyway.  You can always crank things up!

One of my friends set his new E5 up hotter than hades initially.  He like it for the first couple of minutes until he put it in :-)

Congrats on the Maiden Nick, As far as the Belt Adjustment. Did you Lube the belt as well. Keep in mind that the belt will break in and stretch just a bit, As for what Ross said I 100% agree. you want about a 2mm deflection in the belt.  ** On the Tail Box Asseymbly** ( Take the lower (Not to be confused with the one on the end) "Brace/Spacer" off and leave it off. The Tail box is more than Rigid enough to do without (a number of us including Matt run it this way. Once you do that, fill the Heli up with a full tank of gas, Once you have done this, put the heli on a table and lift up the heli with your finger in the rear "where you pulled that spacer out" if your belt is properly adjusted, you should expet 2mm deflection. with that being said your belt tension will be properly adjusted if you perform this step correctly.  good luck.. any questions, feel free to ask !

Hi Nick,

Hair Dryer will work great, it is what i use. :)

You can do this with the tail control rod and rod guides in place but it can be quite a fiddle so i find the best way is to mark where the guides are on the carbon pushrod and remove it, then slide the heatshrink into position and then using the hair dryer start from one end to the other, do this slowly as this allows the sleeving to shrink without trapping any air inside the sleeving causing air bubbles. If you do get air bubbles then these can be quickly sorted by using a pin to puncture the air bubble and then reheating with the hair dryer. If you start from one end and work slowly you should end up with a perfectly shrunk sleeve without any air bubbles.

Allow to cool as the sleeving will be soft and can be damaged if installed in the guides.

thx for the tips guys,,yes i did give my belt a very good coating of silicone but i probabily do have more than 2 mil play in the belt so will give it a bit of a tighten up,,i did think that the beld would take a little break in as it only started after my 4th flight,,Ross yes i did end up with quiet a few air bubbles in the tubeing but have ordered 3 lots lol so will try to do a better job this time,,is there any way of finding the correct 5degrees offset the tail needs as my pitch gauge doesnt fit the tail blades
