On Board lighter or the old stick?
« on: August 11, 2014, 10:01:00 PM »
What are you guys using today? On board lighters or the old stick? I used to use the align regulator with the on board lighter. Anybody using switch glow? What's the consensus here?
Hope is not a strategy!

Using a push glow on both my nitro models.  Yeah, it's more weight to the model and a bit more complex than having a glow ignitor that is removed during flight, but it is MEGA convenient not having to bring another item to the field with you and constantly wonder if it is charged up.  Also nice not having to remove the canopy each flight to get the heli started.

I have used switchglo pro and the perfect regulator as mentioned above and both worked flawless. But I'm such a weight weeny that I just use the glo stick now. I don't even use a switch anymore.  ::)

Hi,

On my N5 I used just a simple remote glow lead and an external glow wand, but on my N7 I use a Gryphon Tiny Booster. This unit can simply be plugged into a free channel to receive power and can operate like a switchglo via a switch or by simply pressing the button on the unit itself to initialise the glow to the glowplug for a few seconds.

The unit is very small and compact and very light and resonably priced, superb unit.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,

I have a push glo on my N5 but it recently started acting up - although I am going to do some troubleshooting on it tonight.  I think I may just go to a remote glow lead for simplicity's sake though....

I will be the odd ball. I use a hot shot. I like the simplicity.
