Any word on date of availability for the optional boom wrap?
-
Good question, I am definitely going to do the boom wrap when it comes out. For now Id settle for my kit ;D. My pre-order is going on 2 months now...

First batch of kits have shipped. Depending on when you did your pre-order your kit may be in route already :) Check with the store you ordered from. I know the first batch sold quickly!
As for tail boom, we don't have an ETA. It's still in prototyping. It is coming though :) As soon as we have a time frame, I am sure Matt will let you know!

Yay,,, my kit has shipped!! ;D ;D

any word on the 766 boom wrap?
-
I didn't think I'd like the boom wrap until I saw Matt's in person. Looks really nice. I hate to add to crash costs, but I think it'll help with presence in the sky on top of looking super cool.

Any update on the ETA for the boom wrap?
-
hello,
i am new here, could someone tell me what size the boom wrap is (or will be) designed.
thanks

The wrap will come ready to fit an 806. Shorter configurations will have to trim the boom a bit. A copping saw or any fine tooth saw will make quick worn of it.

thanks for your quick answer

+1 for Chris, also in addition a dermel with the little cutting blade works great, and since its carbon once you size and cut the boom to your desired length, take a little CA and seal the end of the boom where the cut was made. Not to much but just enough to keep it sealed and finished looking. Won't be long till they are here.

Also, instead of trying to mark it with a sharpie you can wrap blue painters tape around the boom wrap and use the edge of the tape as a cutting guide.
-
I did the tape thing and it works great, but Barry's looks a lot better.

Hi Dan,
I just received my boom wrap yesterday afternoon. It came with no instructions or information on where to go to get the instructions. Thank You for providing a link. The boom wrap looks awesome!

Ha! Well one is a 806. I do a lot of buying and selling and trading. You should get another! All the cool kids are doing it :)

Yea! I hear you loud and clear. My pockets are not that deep but I keep wishing.
-
Ha! I got real lucky with these. Got a great deal on one and I did a good trade on the other. If my pockets was deeper I'd have a couple more lol

If I removed the boom struts on the Synergy 766 and put the boom wrap on and trim it to the correct length, do I need to adjust the main boom clamp? If so, what distance do I need to adjust the main boom clamp to? Thank you for your assistance.
V/R,
Wayne Derrick

I dont believe there is a set measurement. Just slide it so it aligns with the holes in the new boom cover

When I installed mine the boom brace clamp didn' t have to move, aligned directly with the holes in the boom cover.
-
So where does one get a boom wrap or is it not available yet??

Thank you. Dang, they sure are proud of that boom wrap ;)
-
Well, it is molded carbon fiber, not fiberglass. 8)

Trimming the boom wrap for 766 I went for the smooth look. 8)

Dang that's clean! Nicely done!

I agree very nice...congrats.

Hey folks
Is there any harm in leaving the boom wrap at the manufactured length on the 766? For example, if I make a small notch adjacent to the tail control level holder and run the vertical tail fin over the boom wrap, will this be okay?
Cheers
-
as long as it is not touching the tail box at all, and you drill an access hole to be able to tighten the box up, that will work fine. that is exactly how I did mine.
-
Thanks Mike! No contact with the tail box, but there is slight contact with the front of the tail fin. Presumably this is ok?
-
no. no contact at all with any of it. it could cause a harmonic.
-
I trimmed a small slice of carbon adjacent to the tail fin. The wraps are being repainted at the moment so I hope I took enough off.
-
Hi
Does anyone know the weight of the wrap? I found I had to push my batteries as far forward as possible to get a slightly nose heavy CG, so don't want to add to much rearward weight.
Thanks
Ant

The option boom wrap will add weight.. that’s a LARGE boom to cover. I personally like it and within my flight style it gives me no issues. This does, as u have found, require using the battery to offset the weight to correct for CG. I don’t have an exact weight figure to give you, sorry.
-
@Antsis,
A carbon fibre boom would save about 67g over the alloy item. Will help with COG and offset some of the boom wrap weight if you decide to fit one.
1metre length of CF tube is available in AUS, easy to cut to size. I'm using it on my 516 and the 766 torque tube bearing supports fit nicely as well. Send me a pm if you want to know where to get it.
Cheers
