Similar mechanical setups with the Skookum in more than one helicopter yield fairly even collective range.  Every time I set up a VBar, I end up with higher positive collective than negative collective, ultimately necessitating adjusting the Pitch Travels on the transmitter to even out the collective range.  I am unclear what else I can possibly setup mechanically so that I end up with an even collective range without adjusting the Pitch Travel in the transmitter.

This has been my experience too. I have been able to get them close by adjusting mechanical but i always have to adjust travel. Mr Mel actually recommended to me that I use the slider to set either positive or negative which ever puts the slider in the sweet spot of the vbar range and then adjust travel on the other. Even if that means using the slider to set negative pitch and them backing down the positive travel.

Beastx and Futaba CGY 750 let you set top and bottom pitch independently. This is a better way. I assume Skookum does not have independent +/- collective pitch adjustment? I just went through my Transmitter and all seven 7 Vbar installs have the negative pitch travel extended 2 to 4 points...umm??

I like how the AR7200BX allows the top and bottom collective pitch to be set independently.  However, I do not like how the AR7200BX does not have the ability to level the swash at high and low stick.

The Skookum's do not allow for high and low collective pitch to be set independently.  However, if you start out with centered servos (even if using sub-trim) at mid stick, the collective will be pretty even.  However, to even out the collective to perfection, you have to adjust each individual servo Travel independently.

Does Skookum have top and bottom swash leveling? I am considering a 540 for my next project. Vstabi/Mikado's complicated new software, manual and firmware update/upgrade/download procedures and the $400 price are making me less enthusiastic about Vbar... ::)

It does, but you need to purchase the $35 Pro software to unlock this feature.  However, unlike the VBar where you need to purchase a separate $45 Pro software for each individual unit, the Skookum software installs to only one computer (one mother board) but can be used with an unlimited number or Skookum FBL units.  If you use several computers, you can contact Art, and he may let you purchase 3 Pro softwares for the price of 2.

What?  I didn't know the SK540 could do that.  I ended up just dialing mine in with the servo travel endpoints because I didn't get even travel on my E7.

You are doing it right.  That is how you fine tune evening out the collective range; you use the Travel (%) under the "Swash Servos" tab.  I say fine tune because you should get a pretty even collective range with the Skookum if you start out with centered servos at mid stick; well within 0.5° unlike the VBar at 1.5° to 2° discrepancy.

I had about 2 degrees more negative than positive on my E7 when I did it.
