Title: Fuel Filter - To use or not to use.
Post by: jayster10 on January 21, 2016, 09:00:32 PM
I have seen arguments on both sides on whether or not to use a fuel filter on the nitro. I bought a new OS .50 SX-H Hyper for my new build. Some say that it can clog or restrict fuel flow and cause an engine failure.

I bought an Align Three way filter (HN6022T) but wanted some feedback before I start using it. Haven't started up the new engine yet after completing the new build of my NC5.

Anyone have any thoughts on whether or not to use a filter? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I've always used one.

Have you heard of anyone having issues while using them?

I always use one. I'd rather run the filter than have some foreign object from the tank or fuel bottle enter the engine.

Ok. That seems to be the consensus so far. Thank you.

i use 4 actually. clean fuel is the best.

my clunk in my fuel can has a filter, I have a filter inline between the pump and the tank, I have an align 3 way that I fill through and my lynx clunk in the tank is a filtered clunk. the cleaner the fuel the better.

hi,

I also use fuel filter for years on TT Raptors 30/50 helis with no issues so far. Align is a good one..
And planning use one on my new build (N5C) as well
Fuel filter protect the fuel entering the engine from dust and dirt, but be careful, you must inspect and clean it regular (depends on how often and which field you fly)

I have one on the bottle and another on the heli.   Cheap insurance.

Filter in fuel jug, filter in line from tank to carb. Finally the Lynx MOAS clunk is another filter so no chance of crud entering my OS.

Especially if you have the regulator you want to use teh filters.  I saw you have a 50 and I would say it's still good practice.

On the regulator a spec of dirt that woudln't bother the motor internals can give you tuning fits if it lodges itself in the diaphragm.

I run a filter in my nitro bottle, Align 3 way in line and MOAS clunk filter. Want this baby to run as long as it can clean.
